Beautiful image Carol. Orchids are hard to shoot with the inner parts of the flower structure standing out. I love the blur and the colors and the composition. Lovely. |

Keith- I agree with a lot of the comments- you have definitely recorded the details in the wings and the body. A face is always preferable to me too, but with a dead insect it might look even more dead depending on condition. |

Noses have such interesting texture- I too find the brightness on the right a little much, but it does give contrast and definition to the nose. It would be fun to catch the whiskers too, but that would require a different aperture, and your dog may not have held still for that either! Shooting what is in your space is fun to do- something I need to remember. Don't need to travel far to photograph, especially macro. |

Pat- Lovely composition- I too like the diagonals and the 3 leaves. The out of focus water drops are disappointing I'm sure- they can be hard to do. I thought that f32 might have caught those better, but it definitely got the serrations on the leaves in focus. I am not sure I like Tom's fix as now there is so much dead space in the right side corners, but a crop in from the right would lose the point of convergence of the leaves. Hmmm- like my bug image, another learning experience. But I like the composition as a whole. |

Stuart- what a great capture of the bee! Amazing clarity of the details in all the fuzzy parts of him. I love the shape and complementary color of the flower, but agree that the cropped photo does hone in on your subject of the bee. The f/4.5 works better than I thought it might for capturing the details- and I like that it is one shot.
I'd like to see the bee suit too! |

Gloria- what a cool and interesting plant. Yes, I am glad it doesn't grow here either for pets and kids!
I agree with the other comments- the soft fade on the flower is fine, and the softer background that Tom got does make the image that much more intriguing. Have fun with the new camera. |

Thanks for the comments on my bug. Yes, it was alive and hand held- no time for tripod setup. I didn't do much editing on this, and I agree that some of the bright spots are distracting. The angle of the shot is always so important and can change everything, so I will try to keep that in mind. |
