really interesting seed. I love the texture. the light on the pod is nice, more at top and diminishing toward bottom. the light highlights the lines of the string-like substance. there is a lot going on inside this subject. the background light ... questionable for me. I like the black background and the natural light on the pod but the streaks on the background ? the streaks are mostly on top half and bottom is mostly black - the bottom might be because of the black vignette. maybe the suggestion of diffusing the light more would be good idea. |

agree with Margarets square presentation because it would eliminate some top/left which would be good in my book. I like the effect of the frog hiding - it tells a story. with the top in 'macro out of focus' that works to bring my eyes down to the frog, under and in hiding. frog has some nice 'bumps'. I guess I would be tempted to make the shadows by the frog lighter but then again they are dark due to a cave effect so that does work well. |

I like what you are getting at , I love water droplets - background of the leaf is nice - maybe not so blurred? I have played recently with some water and have not submitted because I feel it did not work. I don't have answers. thoughts... might those little drops be harder to photograph with a macro lens, does the diameter of the drop make a difference in being able to see what is being magnified in the drop. long time ago I use a more "normal" lens instead of macro and it came out a little better. too many variable to keep track of at this point. |

I really like the green lines in this flower - greens are beautiful. the lines are kind of parallel on the top/bottom vs the lines that are horizontal/perpendicular. I was not sure what the light green vertical part was up front & center - part of the flower or not. I did feel like I wanted to push it out of the scene and just see the lines. or could you shoot the flower from the opposite side and hide the light green so we just see the vertical/horizontal lines??? focus looks good, I see the little 'hairs'. |

agree on the focus issue. but love the subject butterfly position on the flower and the background is a beautiful green no matter what saturation you want] and blurred, stem shows the support for the subject. I have been chasing bees/butterflies and yet to get anything good - it is hard with a macro. |

we already agree it doesn't look macro - I do not expect to see that many shells in a macro. but I like the concept of down low and vertical shot with the background fading away. |

no stacking and it looks great! looks like you got everything in a level plane so that all is in focus. flower color is so calming, the stem is a beautiful green. love the "things" on the stem - stem in good focus for 1/3-1/2 and pleasantly fall off only a little focus last part. I vote for the higher crop also. trying the rotation for different angles is good too. now it is one step off of being a carol "ethereal" photo.... tighter crop with vignette maybe... toss that to carol. |

yes, I could take the tripod back to this specimen. my camera is heavy and it is all I can do to hold it so I don't know what I have until I get home.
