95 Dec 24 Reply the back of the shell - rectangle that Stuart is referring to - is part of the shell [I even looked it up]. I like the barnacles because it sets up an enviornmental photo rather than putting it on a fake surface. playing with photoshop blurring or exposure to minimize it could work as another version but I don't find them distracting in this version. Gloria you could have fun with different versions. Dec 22nd
95 Dec 24 Reply so this project was worth doing. I have done bracketing with exposure on camera but honestly I don't know about focus bracketing - will look it up soon. I know the focus is a bit off - sharp in places and off in others -but it gave me a feel getting in the bushes. the background is the bush/leaves behind the bug - no manipulation. Dec 22nd
95 Dec 24 Comment now back to the ethereal Carol flowers... I like this. colors great yellow with just a dash of green. especially like that it looks like a unstacked macro... that minimalist stripe of focus - less focus just fades to background lending support to the one petal and stamen. I like the stamen on the 1/3 side. Indoor lighting, like a table near a window? love it. Dec 21st
95 Dec 24 Comment very pretty flower and bright colors - maybe you are thinking Christmas colors here also :-). when I enlarged it I looked closer and to me it looks like the flower on the left is more in focus especially at the center and petals close to the center are more in focus than the right side flower. another time you could just do the one flower in closer - hard to get both flowers in focus and you did not stack. to me you presented the flower right as the dominant one, getting it in full face in the photo while the left one is cut of a bit - but then I think the left one has more crispness to it - so they are competing a little. 95 Dec 24 Comment love the walnut! all looks in focus - spectacular - all the texture/divits/bumps of the walnut are crisp. the yellow/brown minimalist color scheme is nice and clean. the wood also in focus show the little "nubbies" of the cut. the light shadows around nuts. good subject! Dec 21st
95 Dec 24 Comment this is a very nice shell, light on it is great, pinks & yellow in between the scallop lines is nicely captured and natural background is perfect. focus looks good - better near the pink/yellow and a little softer on edges - nice. yellow from sunshine give a nice warmth. Dec 21st
95 Dec 24 Comment well this is cool, I am impressed. UV light, removing petals all great ideas. what I see is almost a pastel painting - interesting what the light does. I like both the black and white bkg versions. not sure if the stamen has the ultimate focus but I do see stations in the leaf behind so that is good for setting that scene up. love the project. did you do a black box situation , was the uv flashlight a tight focus on the petals or filled the box?
