agreed - I was cheating a little on the macro part of the photo and more interested in the stacking parts so I was using the fact that there were multiple berries at 3 levels in order to have something to stack... thus I needed to be back far enough to keep all berries in the width of the photo. was not chasing the 1:1 on this photo - I could do that on 1 berry but I needed the multitude of berries to practice the stacking. |

the more I looked at it the more I liked it. to me it is all looking in focus so no big macro look to it. but I do like seeing the details in the color pattern of the legs that started to pop out as I stared at it. so it is a great October photo. |

I love your project idea of the tryptic.
this stigma is too out of focus for me since I cannot find an in focus area to draw me in with. I love little hairs on things and even if they were in focus that might possibly be enough but they don't look in focus either. I would retake. |

this is a beautiful crab. the blue colors but then a rainbow of colors are amazing. the eyes/face look in focus and even the claws - so the face pops out. in the front/back/side/belly of the crab are the out of focus parts which gives it a macro look. it is so interesting to look at. if the crab could have taken direction I would have told him to scoot up that rock more and see less of the rock.... alas some actors are stubborn. |

glad you showed the original whole broccoli - have never seen this one and you were right to kidnap it for photography. red light is a great touch - that should be your Christmas card :-). the little white highlights almost look like Christmas tree lights. it looks to me like everything has merged into focus so it sparkles. |

I definitely like the colors! you can see the transition of seasons in the changing colors on 1 leaf!. I can see the cracks/veins all over some softer than others. kind of looks like a painting, maybe water color. see the middle/large vein mostly in focus and above/below in softer focus - good for the macro effect. it fits into the vertical frame nicely. |

your subject is very interesting. it is a good "larger" image. I feel need to be more macro and explore either half as the focused/unfoced ends to see if it creates a different feeling of close up. the colors in the snail seem to match the colors in the shells...interesting.
