Carol, frog is a great subject - clarity & texture - agree -I would probably have been trying to pop the color of the spots and texture of the skin to see how far I could go. background is a tough one. the shells do give it a story but they might not be the ideal background but shooting live you take what you get - shells give a reference point - I lean to keeping them in. Tom's fix makes sense but then it is more sterile. [ps sorry I'm late due to vacation and leg injury] |

Keith, I actually think there was more to see in your April wasp, more wing exposed and April seemed more focused. I guess we all wanted to see head first. just saw tom said pin down also. but a good project. |

Tom, it is a great subject - I thought at first it was leaf-veins... agree iwth the anatomical reference also, capillaries. this is one that might be good to see side by side as 5.6 vs f10-14. could be used as a textured background for some project. probably differnt colored lights behind it. stuart this is such a pretty photo. flower has a lot of focus points at center and red spots especially and you did not stack. green/hair are very sharp. I like the flower and the green/hairs but they are competing for my attention. the green blurred background is great - no excess distractions in the green. Gloria, I am impressed you could get a photo at all. it stayed put while you set up a tripod??? so we all agree the background is a distraction - a project for when you want to practice photoshop. it makes sense that the head and nearby "hands"are the only in focus. obvious is that to tell what the bug is the legs etc are needed but did you try crop jsut the head half body to see what it does... rotate so looks like those hands are "praying" with closeup of head. maybe jsut have only purple behind it at that point. |

fran, great color palette. like the clarity adjustment. focus on red/ closet petal - I expect other petals to be out of focus and that is ok with me.. I was going to say square it off - now that you did... I can also say I like the original asymmetry thought I would still trim but take off the right side and not the top. I like the green blurred background and it needs a little bit of openness to see the background [ps sorry I'm late due to vacation and leg injury] |
