this is a wow photo for me. the bug looks stunning so much looks in focus and what is not does not detract. then seeing tom's rotation I would say wow again - I really like that rotation. [I thought growing up we had praying mantis on the east coast]. |

I do like seeing the little hairs on the leaf. maybe not the wow flower photo but it is still pretty & nice subtle colors. |

I like the barnacle as a subject. I saw the pinpoint highlights and agree removing is the best thing to do. in the original I did want to lighten the 2 big shadow areas. so tom took care of those ideas - I like his version. when I am editing beside the exposure or highlights depending on situation is will use the content aware which is now on Lightroom and/or rubber stamp. it helps to take highlights out of faces. |

I love the subject. agree with bringing down the left highlights. I like the diagonal also but still feel it is squeezed in - maybe with the original a little more frame can be left in - another thought for a diagonal would be to see how a square frame looks instead of this rectangle. I actually like the feel of the lighter green behind the flower in the original and I like more of the base of the petal/stem showing but then not a 1:1 shot but if you are just using your macro lens for general. |

nice color of the setting sun giving a golden glow / fire effect. I am assuming the larger item is a cactus??? hook looks in focus to me and would not expect all the needles to be in focus so looks good to me. speaking of rotation, my first thought if retaking the scene was to do an angle different so that the cactus was more diagonal, filling the frame more then have 2 subject, the hook and a few in focus needles. your orientation still looks good and maybe helps the hook stand out.

first, I see the glassy/icecube type of crystal as very interesting and pretty and I like the green background - give a nature feel. something I was thinking about when I started with the stone. then I see the comments [with Gloria on this one] about the white blown out areas, so, no technical comments from me because I am learning from you guys... in reading I am thinking OMG i have a lot to learn. I can see where the crystals need the stacking. |
