Gloria & Tom , anyone,
I am not stacking yet but bought a focus rail. I bought from newer about $60 not expensive , not cheap.... but unhappy - feel it has too much play in the control... I turn and it seems not move until it gets to a certain point on the knob then I can see the rail move. unless it is moving at an invisible level. anyone want to describe how accurately the knobs controlling the movement should work. |

thanks. yes the term just eluded me at the moment - it is the word used on Lightroom and I use it all the time in my slideshows.. stroke border. looks nice around the photo. |

boy oh boy... just fantastic. these are the kind of images on my list... but I have not started this project yet. so I am utterly fascinated by your execution. this one grabs my - cleaver that you found the squiggly green stem [what is it?] and thought to put it in to hold the droplets. are you using water or glycerin droplets? Any problems having the droplets stay put - did they want to drop off? |

I see the green leaves as nice and sharp, able to show off the little pointed hairs/cilia . I see the yellow petals as soft but in a good way. the middle is little soft too. my question is when you stack are you really trying to get every level in focus - if you stack less levels do you expect edges to be a little out focus - asking a a person with no stacking skills [yet]. you guys always say how many #images so I am not really sure yet if an increase # stacked directly is proportional to the amount of focus??? |

absolutely stunning image Stuart. everything looks focused to me - so nothing to really say but beautiful. black bkgd is perfect to show off translucent flowers. I like th asymmetrical position of the flower. the petals are flowing UP from the right corner. |

ok thinking about this. crop out "out focus" area in the distance/back.... that leave 1 very small area at bottom out focus.... so then all of the photo is in focus, almost. here is the query... I am still on my kick of focus in macro... if it is all in focus then there is no trace of it being a macro photo - yes/no??? I guess I would still want to see/don't mind seeing some "out of focus" in a macro photo [no stacking]. Tom saying he sometimes is critical of out of focus area also... I am still working this out in my little head. great feedback. |

great image - wonderful nooks and crannies presented here to draw in the observer. I agree to decrease the highlights at the top. the focus looks good to me in the middle then just fades off a little. great subject. |

Tom, I had some other person talk about flipping images... honestly I don't get it yet. I don't see a difference [yet]. can you say what you see in the 2 different orientations. |

I like the bokeh effect as background. I prefer less highlight on that one side of the veggie. but I love the setup , focus around end of veggie leading to the stem. |

Fran, stunning. agree with all on the fact that is beautifully portrayed, striking color. the corner does not bother me but since tom put it up , I do like removing the corner.
