beautiful flowers as a subject! I think white is hard to do. the part of the white that is exposed to see the "veins" is what I like - a transparent look. I actually like the look of the original photo background where you can see more light/shadow. getting the flowers positioned in that type of space would be ideal for me and no twig on the left side - I know in the outdoors it cannot always be achieved. |

beautiful flower - love the pink & green. I would love to tuck that one petal "inside". I like the asymmetry of the petals extending.
love seeing the "hairs" on the long finger like petals - that makes the macro shot for me. in this shot you have ~3 places for getting the hairs in focus - if setting these up in a box I think I would try to maximize a focal plane with lots of in-focus-hairs; toss up for changing f stop - hairs in focus vs blaring other petals.
is that really white on flower/far right or is the pink washed out - could it be a little pinker? |

definitely love the subject. i can see the 2 ruffles touch in focus near the top, vertical pink/white stripes seem in focus also. I feel like I want to do something to it - like tilt it so more of center is coming toward me in focus and the big majority of out focus recedes a little [things to do if it is in a box in your house, ha ha]. outdoors is totally frustrating for me with the macro lens. taking out the dark background and making it subtle pinks/ less shadows looks good. I also like the very front where the "horizontal ruffles [like claws] come together - did you do any that put them in focus? |

what a great/lovely subject. I love the colors and texture, fanning of the shell, imperfections of the shell, love the green background off to right - it is a good match for the pink - it is a significant swatch of green but not enough to dominate - the shell still dominates the scene for me - the green lines flow differently than the fanning of the shell which I think looks good. |

I can play with this later with multiple slower shutter. what exactly do you mean by adding light tracks - not familiar with how to do that.

the pod is very interesting inside - a good macro subject. I can see detail in the "spider web threads" so that is good. I feel like I am looking inside. l Iike the jagged edges rather than a surgical cut. the white background is bright - feel like I need sunglasses. I probably would like less white border also - maybe I would not mind at the size of border if more subdue color. maybe earthier tones or at least more of an off white. |

the close up is interesting - I like the geometry and then the fanning reveals thin onion skin type of transparancy that is not obvious from glancing at the original - that is what macro is for. F8 seems ok if don't over analyze the focus [not stacked]. it appears as though you could make the background any color you wanted to give a different feeling whether gels or natural backgrounds - lighting from either direction? I think this leaf works well as a macro.
