46 Jan 25 Comment Hi Xiao, this is yet another fantastic image of yours. The contrast in color between the bird and the background really enhances the shot, and the composition and detail elevate it, turning it into a fabulous Yellowthroat capture.

46 Jan 25 Comment Hi Sylvia, this is a fantastic capture of the Bald Eagle in action. It really tells a story of endurance and recovery, highlighting the important work of conservation centers for injured birds.
Your editing enhances the image by removing much of the color from the scene, allowing the Bald Eagle to stand out even more majestically.

46 Jan 25 Comment Hi, I'm not sure what happened either, and this isn't my image for the month.
Marylin, this is a beautiful shot captured in such a lovely way. The birds contrast beautifully against the blue sky, and the details are incredibly sharp. A truly lovely capture!

54 Jan 25 Reply Hi Brad,

Thank you for your nice comment. I completely agree with everyone about the sky, but as you pointed out, what I really liked was the effect the clouds created-it gives the impression of a face looking at the fallen angel.

54 Jan 25 Reply Hi Kirsti,

Thank you for your lovely comment. I'm glad you like the symmetry effect in the image! I agree with the overall feedback that the sky could benefit from some improvement. I also see the point about the rail shadow-it could introduce some confusion with the natural light. However, these images are meant to be imaginative, and I think they can carry a touch of unreality.

54 Jan 25 Reply Hi Bruce,

Thank you for your thoughtful comment. You always have a keen eye for detail and offer the perfect suggestions for improvement. I agree that the sky could use a bit more work-it currently has a noticeable mirror symmetry that could easily be removed. I also agree that the mirror rail shadow creates a conflict with the direction of the overall shadows in the image.

Hi Peggy,

Thank you for your kind comment. I agree, a level correction really enhances the image beautifully.

54 Jan 25 Reply Hi Alan,

Thank you for your kind comment. I was struggling with another image that had a completely different story, so I decided to start fresh with entirely different files. From there, the path became much clearer, and I ended up finalising with this image.

54 Jan 25 Reply Hi Matt,

Thank you for your kind comment. I agree with you that some areas of the sky could be improved to create a more refined version. I'll take another look and see what I can do.

54 Jan 25 Comment Hi Bruce,

Your image tells a great story, and you've done a wonderful job putting all the elements together.

I agree with the other comments. For me, the hair gets a bit lost in the tower and isn't very noticeable at first glance. Peggy's editing definitely helps improve that.

I also feel the crop is a bit tight. I'm wondering if a little more space on the sides of the tower might enhance the overall composition.

Finally, one thing that seems a bit off to me is the perspective of the tower. It feels a little too straight. I know straight lines are essential in architectural shots, but the natural perspective of the human eye when looking up tends to make structures look wider at the base and narrower at the top.

Great work overall!

54 Jan 25 Comment Hi Brad,

I really like how you've blended the fast, frozen images with the slow, long exposures that create a smooth, milky texture in the water. You've integrated all the water elements so seamlessly. Turning everything to black and white works wonderfully, bringing the entire image together.

I'm not sure if the people at the bottom are necessary to tell your story. I feel the main point of focus is the figure at the top, which acts as the central point of union and balance for the top-down elements.

Great work overall!

54 Jan 25 Comment Hi Alan,

Great image! I love how the different arches create a three-dimensional background that guides the eye through the composition. The placement of the men complements the scene perfectly and helps tell the story, especially as it seems one is moving away from the other while keeping an eye on his pursuer.

I agree with Peggy and Bruce's suggestion to warm up the colors of the stairs and arch. It would integrate that area better into the image and help balance the overall composition.

Great work!

54 Jan 25 Comment Hi Kirsti,

I absolutely love the futuristic feel of this image! The use of the gramophone texture works so well, adding an intriguing point of interest to the background. The transparency of the mannequins creates a unique effect and complements the story, especially with the tunnel at the end.

I also really like Alan's suggestion to add the gradient-it gives me the impression of an interstellar planet or the moon. As for the "gosh," it feels more like inhabitants of other planets to me, but I also like Bruce's version where the "gosh" are left with a more blurred look.

Really great work!

54 Jan 25 Comment Hi Matt,

Congratulations on your excellent work in creating this image! The photomontage of all the elements works so well, and the story it tells is easily understood. The viewer is drawn in to explore all the little details.

I think the colour treatment is fantastic. I love how the image blends so seamlessly with just these two colours and the textures.

Great job!

Hi Peggy,

You've created such an appealing, colourful image of this sunflower under the snow. The colours look truly magical with the soft pastel tones, and the composition of the flower blends beautifully with the textures in the image. I agree that it would work wonderfully as a greeting postcard!

I'm also wondering if the flower might benefit from being more prominent in the frame, or if the story is best told as it is.

Such a lovely, dreamy image!

65 Jan 25 Reply Hi Barbara, thanks for your suggestion! I'll give a tight crop a try and see if it helps eliminate some of the glare that draws too much attention.

65 Jan 25 Reply Hi Diana, thank you for your comment! I completely agree with you - a polariser is an excellent tool for reducing unwanted glare, especially in flowers and water.

65 Jan 25 Reply Hi Dick, thanks so much for your comment! You're absolutely right - I should make sure to always have the polarizer with me when I'm shooting flowers, especially if they're in the water.

Hi David, I really love the dreamy feel of this image. The swirling background from the Helios lens adds such a magical touch, perfectly framing the flower.
I have this lens in my bag as well, and I use it extensively because I enjoy the dreamy finish it creates. However, it can be tricky to find the right balance between a sharp focus point and the soft, dreamy background.

65 Jan 25 Comment Hi Diana, I really love the colour contrast in this image - the red flower complements the greens beautifully. Another aspect I really like is the shape of the flower, which acts almost like a path, guiding your eye along it.
My only suggestion would be to try a square crop to see if it might suit the flower better.

65 Jan 25 Comment Happy New Year, Barbara! This image reminds me of one of my plants, which has been with me for thirty-two years now.
The lighting really enhances the plant, and I love how it's beautifully isolated from the black background. The red pot is a perfect complement to the plant. My only suggestion would be to remove the stem that touches the border on the left side, as Dick mentioned.

65 Jan 25 Comment Hi Dick, this is my first time seeing a sunk cabbage, and I find it really interesting how these plants can generate heat to melt the ice around them, allowing them to grow.
You've captured it beautifully, with plenty of detail and a great colour contrast that separates the plant from the background. One suggestion: a slight darkening of the background could help enhance the subject even more.

72 Jan 25 Reply Hi Adrian,
Thank you for your comment-I always appreciate it. As you pointed out, dragonflies tend to return to the same spot several times before moving to a new one. Knowing that, you can be prepared and have more chances if you miss the first shot.

72 Jan 25 Reply Hi Richard,
Thank you for your nice comment. I didn't realize that only five legs are visible in the image. I'm wondering if the other one is hiding behind, or maybe this dragonfly has lost one of its legs.

Hi Isaac,
Nice capture of this dynamic group of javelinas! I really like how they're all facing the camera. The level of detail is great, and the partial reflection in the water is a fascinating element, it can either enhance the composition or detract from it.
It makes me think of two options: the image could benefit from a bit more space at the bottom to include the full reflection of the animals, or a crop just above the light line where the sand touches the water, removing the reflection.
The latter could help focus the attention entirely on the javelinas, but both are valid approaches, each serving a different visual purpose.

72 Jan 25 Comment Hi Adrian,

You've captured a beautiful and colorful crab in great detail. I love how you've enhanced the colors of the crab in the edit-it really makes it stand out. There's a strong visual connection between the crab and the viewer, drawing attention to its eyes and body. The slight blur in the legs isn't very noticeable.

72 Jan 25 Comment Hi Maria,

Great capture of this egret with its catch! I really like the projection of the fish's shadow on the feathers and the incredible detail you've captured.
I also like the suggestion of a portrait crop to focus more on the egret and the fish. I find the pattern of the water at the bottom a bit distracting.

Hi Bruce,

Congratulations on this image! It's a stunning capture of these two bears at the perfect moment, showing great interaction between them.
The bears contrast nicely against the impressive background, which gives us a glimpse of their environment.
I agree with the suggestion to increase the contrast a bit.
