Hi Jack, I totally agree that the detail under the wings needs to be more prominent. I will add a little more light in that area and as you suggested in the eye too. Thank you for your comment, I really appreciate it. |

Hi Marilyn, you have done a fantastic job isolating the bird and minimazing the presence of human hand. The image is pin sharp, and the light and colours are superb.
Regarding your question, you could enter it in an open competition or in a colour category. However, I am afraid that for Nature competition this image may not be suitable, as you have removed some elements and there are still visible human elements present.

Hi Xiao, I congratulate you in this image, you did a great work in editing and lighting it. The composition is beautiful, with the bird in a perfect pose looking at you, and it is well balanced and framed by the branches. The colours work well too.

Hi Sylvia,
I love these little plovers, as they're always strolling on the beach looking for food. I find the crop choice very suitable to enhance your subject, and the reflection in the water works really well. However, unfortunately, the amount of space reduced in the image has resulted in a lack of quality in the bird. It's hard to appreciate the detail in the feathers. Could you consider reducing the amount of noise reduction to recover a bit of the detail in the bird?

Hi Lisa, what a magnificent birds the Bald eagles are, and you have captured this one in a nice pose that enhances all the details and features of this majestic bird. I have to congratulate you on the fantastic results after the selection, I can't observe any faults in the replacement background. You have made it appear natural. My only suggestion would be to consider lightening the blue in the sky a bit, as I find it a bit dark.

Hi Peggy, thank you for your nice comment and suggestions, I will definetelly try to reduce the size of the girl, although it is not easy now since many of the layer were merged down. It will require reworking almost the entire image, but I am determined to make it work. I agree that the coat is too modern for the tone of the image. That's why I've been experimenting with transforming its shape and colour to make it less noticeable.

Hi Alan, I truly appreciated your thoughtful comment. I agree with you, I am not completely happy with the child figure either. As you said, it can be difficult to find an image in one's own archives that fits in perfectly.

Hi Brad, I truly enjoyed the sense of luminosity in tthis image, which conveys perfectly the message of hope. The bird is placed in the right spot and the sun rays add to the sense of light and hope, contrasting with the silhouette of the dark city on the horizon. It's a lovely image, well done.

Hi ALan, this image has a double impact, both visual and emotional. The body language of the man really makes one wonder what kind of desolation he is confronting while the full moon behind him seems to roll in to entrap him. The leading lines create a path to the viewer and the fog in the horizon add the mysterious element to the scene. Everything works really well to create a powerful image.
My only suggestion concerns a few details, I find the moon a bit too obviously cut and paste, with a sharp border that needs to be blended into the landscape to give it a more three dimensional feel. The other detail is about the fog, could you consider placing a bit of fog in front of the moon? Currently, it feels as if the moon has fallen into the landscape rather than rising on the horizon. Apart from these minor details, I find it to be a very hight quality composition that inmediately caught my attention.

Hi Kirsti, What a beautiful tree! You've truly created a mysterious and special image. The way the tree stands out with this glow and the aerial movement attracts me to the image, making me wonder what is happening there and why it is not succumbing to darkness like the other trees around it. The placement of the figures is well balanced, specially with the bush on the right.
I might agree with the other suggestions about the figures being a bit to bright blue. This makes them stand out as much as the tree, which can blur the message a bit.

Hi Aavo, You have truly created a well-composed story and mimicked the landscape nicely, framing it with the telephone. The idea is well managed, and the composition with the frame inside the frame is balance with the hand and telephone standing up in the right place.
As other have already suggested I would work a little more on the hand selection, cleaning the selection and recovering some areas of the index finger which have been lost.
Additionally, the placement of the picture in the phone needs a bit of adjustment. Usually, we see the round button completely.

Hi Peggy, you made excellent choices with this image, I find the arch a very suitable placement for the snake, the leading lines guide us directly to the hero of the image which is the snake. They also balance the image nicely and create a sense of perspective.
The light at the end of the tunnel frames the subject. However I find it a bit to strong compared to the light on the snake, which is supposed to be in a darker area of the tunnel. The colours harmonize well, complementing the image.
I really like how the image has turned out following Brad's suggestion. The flames truly make the snake pop and tell a stronger story. Well done!

Hi Dick, thank you for your thoughtful comment, I really appreciate it. The flower was actually found on the edge of the road, and the drops were there because it was a rainy day. I shot it in natural light, aiming to isolate it from the background and to capture more light on the flower itself. I didn't know the name of the flower, but what I found beautifully attractive was the transparency and delicacy of its petals.

Hi Diana, I also enjoy using driying flowers as a subjects for set ups at home. Natural light is my preferred choice as well, for its softness and indirect light. It's a personal preference.
You have done a fantastic job with this flower. The amount of detail, the shapes and textures and the curve of its stem really bring it back to live. You have isolate it very well by using a black background too. Great work!

Hi Barbara, Dahlias are a fantastic subject for experimentation, as their petals always offer nice patterns to focus on. Your image has plenty of detail and I am surprised, like Dick mentioned, by the sharpness and the quality produced by lensbaby.
I agree with Dick's suggestion about the cropping, it changes the center of the flower to a more interesting place and reduces the background so you don't need to worry about which colour suits the flower best. |

Hi Dick, great shot of this yellow hibiscus! The flower has been framed to enhance it without mayor distractions, and I particularly like the square crop, it contains the flower very well. I agree with Diana, the lower leaf is a bit distracting due the amount of light and detail compared with the background. Additionally, my eye is drawn to the flower cocoon in the upper left up corner. I would consider decreasing the light and the detail to make it less noticeable.

Hi Isaac, I am not familiar with the insects found in the USA. Here, I can find them in small ponds, but there aren't very large populations. I challenge myself to get them in focus and close enough to capture all the details. This couple is mating, and sometimes you can witness how they hunt small flies along their way.
Thank you for your suggestion.

Hi Issac, this is a great image! The bird perching on the lower lip is quite remarkable. Additionally, you've captured plenty of detail in the Buffalo, and the mud covering it effectively portrays its environment and behaviour. The blurred background adds to the overall appeal, and there's a great story captured in this image.

Hi Adrian, As Bruce and Isaac had pointed out, I am not very familiar with underwater photography, but I admire it even though I'm somewhat scared to try it myself. Your image is lovely, presenting a lot of detail of the turtle and its environment. I agree with the suggestions about editing, a bit of contrast and dehaze would enhance the image and its colours.

Hi Leah, humans often take over natural land, but when we leave, Nature seeks to reclaim what was once taken. This is a clear example of that phenomenon. Your chosen point of view effectively isolates the structure agains the sky. While I wish the branches weren't there also ilustrate that nature has reclaimed the area with trees. Given the lack of colour in the surroundings, I also prefer Isaac's black and white rendition. Additionally, I agree with Bruce's suggestion about cropping it tight.

Hi Barbara, when I saw this image I said "wow"! This is the best compliment that I could receive for my images. You froze the moment perfectly, with a background nicely blurred to create necessary separation with the bird. You've also captured a catchlight in its eye and framed it nicely. Additionally, you've depicted some of its behaviour and environment. I congratulate you on this image, it's truly beautiful.
