I think that gives it a bit more interest and impact and tends to help lead the viewer in. |

The processing of this image makes it pop. The angle of the barrels, the surrounding walls, and the floor all work together for interest and impact. The filter is an excellent choice for the subject as it provides many shades and contrast.
A stroke around the image would make ot stand out from the black background.

Interesting street people shot. Everyone is doing their own thing and ignoring the others. Works very well in Monochrome. The people positioned in a line as they are give the image more interest and impact. Everything is sharp, there is light and shadow providing depth.
The crop on the left is too much and takes away from the strong lead into the people.
Good catch.

Interesting image and the effect works well for the subject. Not being a fan of highkey, I have to say it works well here. It looks a bit like a pencil drawing.
If keeping the color version I would remove the shrub as the color is distracting, but it works in the monochrome conversion. |

A pleasing image that makes a person feel like being there. It looks like it has been there forever. I guess forty years is almost forever. The straight lines of the stairs and fence work well to enhance and bring focus to the curves of the pot.
I would agree with adding more contrast, as it is a bit flat. I might also crop some from the bottom to bring more attention to the pot.

Great detail and contrast makes this a strong B&W image. The subject is well placed and shows motion with lots of room to move into. The background adds tension, impact and scale. Good catch.
One very important thing with landscapes is a level horizon or in this case the water not being level. Best to level it in camera but can also be done when processing. The second thing I see is the background, although dramatic, it is a bit flat. I made some changes to hopefully add more dimension, see what you think. In LR I lowered the highlights, raised the shadows, raised the whites, lowered the blacks, added some texture, added a vignette, and masked the sail boat for more exposure. |

Very interesting image. It is artistic and has high impact for a creative category if you plan on entering it in competition. For me the color version is stronger, I think because the B&W version tends to flatten a bit. I too am wondering why the motion stopped for some of the elements. Was the subject moving at all? If so maybe moved in unison with the camera...just a thought. Would like more info on the process used. Definitly one to frame.
I might remove the disconnected spots in the bottom left third. |
