39 Jul 23 Reply I like your crop and it appears to be the consensus among the group. Thanks Jul 21st
39 Jul 23 Reply I like your version Fran, keeping the long shadows is a good choice. Jul 21st
39 Jul 23 Comment Very dramatic, with strong contrast, tones and detail. The effect looks like a strong moon was shining creating shadow and light which gives it depth. Well done.

Would be good to have more detail about the process.

I have been to Joshua Tree, I will have to look back and see if I have anything to convert to B&W, if I could get it to look like this.

39 Jul 23 Comment A very strong conversion and creative vision. At first I thought there was lost detail due to the composite with the stone wall but after looking further, I think it works very well and a definite prospect for entering into competition.

The only thing I might suggest is to crop a little off the bottom which I think would give even more attention to the owl.

Very nice

39 Jul 23 Comment I see what you were after, just not sure it worked. The ground shadows are very good and the star burst is great. I think there are too many branches and other trees making it very busy. If it were just the trees that are creating the shadows it would be very strong. The trees and the house on the left make that side very heavy with little to see, and the right tends to be dark also.

I made a crop to eliminate the dark sides and some of the top. See what you think.

39 Jul 23 Comment Strong details and contrast give this image good impact and interest. The clouds and the bird on top of the mast are a plus and keep the viewer looking.

I wonder if shooing it in landscape format would have more impact. As is I would crop the bottom, that much empty space tends to take away from the boat.

There appears to be a halo effect on the camera left side edge of the boat. Not sure if that is natural or a processing issue.

39 Jul 23 Comment Flowers are not easy to shoot and get a good composition, the composition of this image is very strong and a great example. The DOF makes the blooms pop from the background and the detail in the petals and water drops make the blooms pop from the frame. Jul 7th
39 Jul 23 Comment The conversion works well and creates a more dramatic and impactful image. The color version is a bit flat but the B&W shows sharp detail. Removing the tree was a good idea and well done. The cloud reflections are great.

I would only crop the snow at the bottom, leaving just enough so it continues all the way across, as it tends to be negative space and distracting.
