I am not sure it would be very noticeable to anyone who did not know that pole was there. I have seen many rural electric and phone lines end like this here in MN. The reason being there is nowhere else for the lines to go. But, the image first has to please the maker. |

Agree with all, the eyes make the image very strong, did you make any adjustment to them? The composition with the bear angled on the rocks works well to show its size and mass. The foreground with the large boulders adds to the impact of the bear. The lighting on the face works well to draw the viewer in. Great catch.
Also agree the bright areas tend to pull the viewer. If you work in LR you can just pull the highlights way down and it should take care of the bright areas or a vignette might work. |

This has some great impact, wish the front pole was not there. The overall balance is very good with the road leading from the left and to the buildings. The lighting across the road and fields is very good and creates depth.
Maybe moving in front of that main pole would have worked better. I agree with Kathryn about brightening the church and bringing down the building on the right.
Because this image has strong potential I did a little work in LR. let me know what you think. |

For me this crop makes the pole dominent and difficult to look past. All the weight falls to the right. |

This has great DOF even with subjects with little depth. The basket stands out and draws attention as it is we'll lit, then on to the hanging dried plants followed by the scooter. It is interesting that each object tends to have its own lighting and tones, probably why the feeling of depth. The DOF makes it feel like I am standing right there.
I wonder if darkening the wood background on the left would give it more balance. It is a large area and bright compared to the rest of the image and tends to pull the eye. |

I agree with Vincent, it looks like a great day of hoarfrost on the trees and grass. The car is a good addition, it tends to give the viewer something to land on and hold them in the image. As for the lanterns, I usually look for a foreground to use as a base to help frame the image and for me they do the job well.
I tend to like some vignetting, I use it in most of my images, and I think Kathryns rendition works, but maybe a little too much. I prefer it to be subtle enough that the viewer does not know it's there.
The bright areas are a bit too bright for me but I guess that is an effect of IR.
BTW, great interaction going on here. |

The slow speed works great in my book. The texture of the water has great interest and impact. Having foreground to background in focus is also very good. The tones and contrast work well to show details in the water and create a great motion feeling. A very strong image.
To pick a little, it feels a little out of balance to me with the heavy rocks camera right and the water leaving the frame camera left and the crop at the top feels too tight. The color image without the close cropping flows, I know, better for my eye. |
