I see what you mean, it really brings out more detail. Thanks for your comments and suggestions. I like yours way better. |

As I went through the presets in Sliver Efex, I picked three or four of them, sent them to LR and compared them. Sepia won out.

I am viewing this image through my judges eye. It has good interest, the composition works well, the sky looks good and having the building in there works well.
What I find that would take away points in competition are, the blown out area across the front, (already mentioned by Jerry), the background fog is also a bit too bright, the foreground trees have highlights around the edges of the leaves and they look a bit too contrasty, the background mountain has a halo around the edge. If any selections were made in processing, that may be the reason for the trees and mountain highlights. Silver Efex can also create too much contrast depending on the preset used.
Hope this helps and again welcome to Group 39. |

Sharp details, high contrast and strong DOF. The flower looks a bit like a negative. The square format works for the subject.
To make the flower stand out even more maybe blur the background more. I think I prefer the color version because the differences in the colors, pink, yellow, white and green make each element stand out more. |

This has great tones and the lighting creates good DOF. I don't know if the look on her face is from pain or part of the dance but it adds interest and impact to the story.
It could use a thin boarder to define the edges. |

This tells an interesting story, either the dad is trying to stop the child from going in or showing him the waves. The waves look powerful. I think I prefer the color, there is more detail and the contrast is not as strong.
The dark clothes on the subjects are losing detail, wonder if they could be lightened some to bring out more detail and not make them so harsh. |

Wow, amazing what you are doing with an iPhone. Sharp focus and smooth water from long exposure. The rocks have very good detail and tones. The composition is strong with good impact and interest.
Wonder if there is a way to tone down the highlights in the plants and the base of the falls, they are bit blown out and have lost detail. Looks a bit like infrared, if that's what you wanted. |
