The water mark is fine.
Your goal was met, it really does appear magical and leads me in looking for a fairy or troll. The lighting on the rocks is great and the overall lighting creates great DOF, so makes it feel like I am right there. |

Lots of angles and lines which create impact and interest. the overall exposure is good between bright brights and the dark stone. the two vanishing lines are very powerful and pull the viewer in and through the image.
The 12mm has caused some interesting depth dimensions with the foreground walls being very large and then disappearing into the background. And the steeple is a great point of interest although appears to be leaning backwards some.
The crop in the B&W works well to emphasize the the walls. |

I think the use of the rocks to lead the viewer works well. I see the water is rough and get the feeling of storms. iI also feels cold and dreary.
The color for me brings out more depth, the B&W is a bit flat. Did the Antique Plate cause the graininess? Not sure I like that, however, it does add to the feeling you were after so it works. |
