Hey Stephen, Wow that is a cool idea. I like it because the way the top turned out reminds me of an Angel, or a flying horse (not that I have seen one). it is one of those images that stopped me in my tracks when I saw it, and then I read your submission statement. Well Done. |

He Ling Ling. Interesting image. I cropped in some to isolate the birds. and added a little clarity. It was a good concept. keep working on shots like this. |

Thanks Sheri. There is an abandoned train track that winds along the bay and would maybe give me a better vantage point of the jetty. I was a little nervous since I was alone. there is some rough terrain. I will be going back with my shooting buddy in June or July. Oddly enough, as Mark Twain would say, it will be colder then. |

Hey Sheri, I would have to agree with Andrew. I do like the angle of the purses that Janice mentioned. Street Photography is not always easy to shot. Keep shooting. |

Catherine, thank you for the nice comment. I agree and plan to redo the image, with Andrew's permission. Have a great Holiday season. |

Hey Andrew, I love what you did. I tried that, but also tried to keep the clouds in, and it did not work. Your take was really what I was going for. I think I will borrow this idea from you. Thanks. |

Hey Janice, thanks for the comments. This was a seascape/landscape, and I was not trying to tell a story. The metal structure is a half sunken barge. The Jetty was made by sinking ships and filling it in with construction debris and dirt. The area just behind the image was a parking lot on the jetty for people who live on houseboats. As far as the bench, the water is shallow and the tides in the bay can be dramatic so at certain times you can probably walk out to the bench. I am going back in the spring and will check it out closer. Thanks for pointing that out. |

Hey Catherine, I agree with Ling Ling. There seems to be a story here. You have my interest. If there is a house or structure nearby, is there a way to incorporate it in your image. You only have part of a story here, but, that may be all there is. Nice image and good post production. As far as the shutter speed goes, I do that all the time. I would try to find a way to catch that. I have two user modes on my camera. If you have something like that, you could set one for bird shots and one for candids and street photography type stuff and just make sure you have the correct one selected. I shoot stuff like this at f-11 @1/125 sec. and set the iso on auto. Depending on the time of day it probably would have been less than what you shot it at. Just a suggestion. The stuff you shoot like this, that I have seen, has been very good. I sometimes get overexcited, or try to do too much at one outing. When I drive for two hours to get to a site, I try to do it all. Keep shooting. |

Hey Janice, I agree with Ling Ling. I grew up shooting black and white and it is my passion. I must say, I almost like the original better, but not for your contest. I opened the image in Nik Silver Efex Pro and tried to make it look a little more 3-D. This is just one take. Your image is fine and I think it is a winner. Good Luck. |

Hey Andrew, this is a great image. The greens and browns in the foreground and the nice tones and contrast. I think the composition is spot on, and I like the clouds. Cell Phones have gotten so much better with photography. My only other comment is that there appears to be halos on the hills behind the lake and the area between the hills seems to be hazy. There are a gazillion videos about how to fix halos. I seem to get them a lot. I could probably stare at this image for a long time. Nice job Andrew. |

Hey Mark. I like the concept of the image. I wish there was an original and maybe some data about the image. I tried to open the image but because of its size it was very pixelated. I was wondering if some cropping and maybe make the image black and white and keep the umbrellas Red. I wish the image was larger. It does say Amsterdam. |

Hey Charles. I love the area around Banff. This is a very nice image. Your crop from the original did make a difference to me. I wonder if a little more off the top would bring out the reflection any. Anytime I have water, I add Clarity to it, to make it look... more wet. Your image is impressive and It brought back memories. Thanks for sharing it. |

Hey Sanat. I really like this image. I have not been to India (Yet), and I would not have guessed it was in India. At first I thought the the left maybe needed a crop, so I tried it, and realized the full area was needed to convey the proper mood. It looks like the entire valley is about to be swallowed by clouds. Your image is very impressive. Your use of Clarity in ACR seems to have made everything... more shiny. |

Hey Stephen. Thank you for your comments. I grew up shooting mainly black and white and in this case, I thought the colors were too interesting to pass up. I did do a Black and White version to show you how I would have done it. Thanks again for the comments. |
