Hey Janice, thank you for your comments. I agree with your, cropping on the left comment. It seems you are really into competitions and that is cool. I am just looking for a shot that I like, and I do too much editing to probably be entering into a competition. I guess I am not a rules guy, but I did appreciate your comment. I sometimes can not see the forest for the trees. There was a photographer in the foreground holding about three large cameras and I did not want to wait for him to move so I just beamed him out. So look at what I did and let me know if that helps.

Hey Julie. This image is telling a very compelling story about things that are happening all over the world. (sorry I will get off my soapbox). It is a sad image and a desperate time for these farmers. I learned a lot from this image that I thought was just a guy plowing his field. I approached its totally different than normal. I did not sharpen things and add texture and add all the things to make a shot look pretty. I cropped a little tighter than you, but not much and I turned up the temperature to make it look... dustier? I did not try to enhance anything like the sky. The image speaks for itself. It is a strong piece of Photojournalism. You should see if there is a market for this image in a magazine or a newspaper, or online. Some images need to have a story with them. Nice job. |

Hey Catherine, Good eye. My wife says this is the kinds of things I shoot on vacation (instead of the kids). She brings her phone. I like the abstractness from real life items. I think it is your true style. I could not resist putting it in Nik Color Efix Pro and playing with the colors and textures. This would make a good 4 ft by 8 ft mural in the lobby of a business office for an outdoor company like REI. Nice job. |

Hey Ling Ling. Very nice image. I see where you were going here. A fishing village the sun going down And a beautiful mountain. I cropped the sides a little to emphasize the fishing boats and keep the soft water effect. I cropped more from the right to make the image more off center. I sharpened the mountain for more detail, and left the water alone. I tried to get the sky to look more orange but did not succeed. I am sure someone else in the group can help me with that. Your image did not need all this, but I always like to just throw out things that can be done. You have all the elements of a really great image. Even the red arch. Nice. |

Hey Janice. Nice image. As we have all said before, I am not sure what the rules are for your club as far as editing. I did a slightly different crop to more see the entire items on the right of the person. I also did not crop as tight on the left. I think I may have cropped out too much above his head, but I wanted to see more of the products he had. Do you print these or do you submit them as digital images? anyway, I would like to submit more stuff for contest, but our club was never the same after that great pandemic. Keep shooting and remember that comments from judges or even from us, are not to be taken too seriously. |

Hey Henry, I love your flower pictures. I have not had this much fun in a long time. I took your original and did some slider stuff in Adobe Camera Raw and opened it in Photoshop. Then I went to generative expand and added some to the bottom of the image so it looked like a vase sitting on a ledge overlooking the ocean. I know this is your image and I hope you don't mind me showing you the fun I had. Now, this is for you and Catherine in our group. If you go to filters and open Neural filters, you can easily spend an hour playing with different filters. I opened one and told it to go to sunset in the desert and it did this. I love your shot that looks like you painted it. I just wanted you to see how you can play with your flower shots . I really liked your watercolor effects. I included Catherine in my comments because I have put some of her images into the Neural filters. Wish I was at your place, it is going to be 103 this week. |

Hey Andrew. Great image. I love shadows and cool textures. I adjusted the white balance and added some contrast and punched up the colors, which I really like. This is not one to convert to black and white (that has already been done a million times. The cool thing here is the colors. I punched up my holy trinity: Texture, Clarity, and Dehaze, and took some of the reflections out of the windows as they were keeping me from looking around. Super cool image. |
