Hey Everyone. Your comments took me in a direction I had not seen. I could not see the cactus for the rocks (bad joke). So No rocks and in black and white. A little too dark for me, and I really don't know what I was going for. You guys always keep me focused. Thanks for being my photo family. |

Hey Henry, fun image. I think the Harely sign has to stay, but I took out the trash and sharpened things a bit. As always, you are very versatile in your photography. A guy, or girl, in leathers nearby would have been cool. Thanks |

Hey Julie, nice shot. I think the only thing that sort of bothered me was how tight the right side of the image was. I used Generative Expand in Photoshop and added to the right. I also adjusted the color balance Temp. My take was a little over saturated. I do feel the image is a little more balanced as far as the lift and right sides. |

Hey Andrew, what a fun image. I like the colors... so I kicked them up. I know this may not be what everyone had in mind but, I liked the craziness of the reflections. I really like your submission. a symphony of chrome. |

Hey Catherine, nice image. I like the action and the water being kicked up. it appears everyone made a comment about the two guys not looking forward. You could always take them out. I am not saying I would do that, but, it did seems to be an image killer. Because I grew up in the film days, I forget that I can take a whole boat-load of shots. Now I have a user setting with multiple shots from one click. Just a thought. |

Hey Janice. I am glad Julie went first. I have only entered a photo contest twice and both times it was the County Fair. I don't think they had any rules, other than the image had to be shot within the last 12 months. So, I don't know. I would have liked to see the original. Also, I used to shoot Street Photography a lot and it seems like the really good stories were the most popular. I think the top board (our park benches are not that high) sort of interrupts any story that might be going on there. The flowers seem a little washed out and the trees seem to be sort of off with the color balance, but I would have liked to see the original. I just don't know if it is a contest winner. I tried cropping in to get rid of the black blob on the left (I don't know if that is allowed), but I am not sure it helped. Sorry, I know it is not what you wanted to hear but for Street Photography, you might need a better story. Remember, I am not an expert, so this is all my opinion. I don't shoot Street stuff anymore (people). People get angry if you invade their space. Who knows, you might get a picky judge who asks if the couple in the image only have one leg each (like Julie mentioned). Go Figure. |

Ling Ling. I love your image. I think the composition is perfect and the three people near the bright light give it a sort of science fiction feel. I love the exposure. I added some texture, but what you have done is, in my opinion perfect. The soft feel really works here. You really nailed the composition, in my opinion. I will not be posting my version, as I would like to see your version in an art show. Good Job. I would buy a signed copy (if I could afford it). |

Hey Julie, thanks for the response. Good point. the rocks do look a little big. I think they need to be there to give the image a little balance. Maybe darker or cropped more. The thing I keep going back and forth on as a photographer is... if an object distracted you and pulls you away, is is okay if it releases you back to view the whole image. Like a paper cup in the foreground of a nice image of a tree, the cup has to go. Cactus comes in all shapes and shades and if you look at the original which I am now posting, if the cactus was all the same color, would that be dull. If the original color was different, and I needed to change the exposure I agree. I am not debating your suggestion, I am just telling you that I find it hard to decide what to do. You have given me a lot to think about. I was hoping my image took on, more of a, painting quality, but I can only hope and try. Thanks again for your comments. |
