Hey Ling Ling, I like your image. I wanted to try somthing with your image. I wanted to try to make the image not have a specific time when it was taken. I also wanted to sort of crop in and take out the outlying house. So I took out the telephone and power poles and really left the rest alone. I wanted it to look timeless. Hope you did not mind. It is a process I have been reading about and wanted to try it. You can try this on other shots that don't seem to be stuck in a certain time. |

Hey Andrew, I love a picture that tells a story. I like what you did to it. I am glad you kept it in color and the composition is nice. Sorry I don't have anything to help, it looks good to me. |

Hey Trevor. it looks like a lot has been said about this image. I think this is your style. I could pick it out of a crowd as yours. The reoccurring theme lately is what kind of mood, or feeling were you trying to convey. I think it is very much you. I kind of feel as a group we are on the verge of taking our stuff to the next level (well maybe not my Duck) My point is, we are starting to ask questions and make comments that show a lot of growth. Hope that did not sound too corny. |

Hey Melissa, When I first looked at your image it seemed very flat. I put it in ACR and ended up looking very much like Haru's take. I had a lot of trouble dealing with the sky. I think Haru's take has good detail and more separation. I would use his take to decide where to go from here. Last note, when you start doing all the adjustments watch out for things like Halo effects at the top of the walls. Don't give up on this image. it will make you a better post processor. |

Hey Haru. Thank you for the encouragement. If I understand your question about inspiration, I have been shooting for many years and in the film days, I shot mostly Black and White. I have been searching since I retired about four years ago for my voice and my style. I thought because I have been doing this for so many years with little to no recognition, I needed to make my mark. I think I over tried. I now look for things that inspire me, and I look for things that tell stories and may touch someones emotions. I now take pictures of things I want to take pictures of. Your photgraphy has a definent style and will keep working on mine. Thank you again for the encouragement. |

Hey Haru, your original is nice. It sets a mood and shows it was taken in the morning. Your Black and White work makes it more pleasing to look at. I think Ed did a nice interpretation, but his version looks later in the day and did not have the same mood and did not look as interesting as your version. My only suggestion is the same as Stacey's. Your original seems to show the light streaks better than your edit. Melissa is correct... you work well with light. |

Hey Ed, Melissa, and Stacey. You try someting, you throw it out there, and then you close your eyes. My wife (Whom I seldom solicit opinions from) said it was too dark, as she walked by my computer. In hindsight I agree. I still thought it was a good idea, but the duck was not detailed enough. I will try to redeam myself next month. The cool thing is... now I know, and that is why I value PSA Group 74 (and 40). Thanks |
