52 Sep 25 Reply Thanks for your comments, Pam. Everyone seems to agree that it needs a little more room at top an bottom. I will see hat I can do while retaining the square aspect ratio. Sep 22nd
52 Sep 25 Reply Thanks, Polly. I do not see pixelation on the bird, but maybe a tiny bit on the wing just under the throat? That sometimes happens in shadowed areas, but I do not think I will mess with it. Congrats on the Townsends. We have them in Arkansas occasionally, but i have not personally seen one. Sep 22nd
52 Sep 25 Comment They say that what is needed for a winning image is a a great subject and great light. You have captured both here in my opinion. I think the composito works well - the elephant is clearly on the move and I think you have left just the right amoung of space in front. One small suggestion would be to eliminate the blown out highlight in the tree just above the elephant. Well done. Sep 16th
52 Sep 25 Comment To me the turtles and the reflections are sharp and appropriately exposed. The oranges and greens in the color palette are visually pleasing to me. My only suggestion would be to crop from the bottom to eliminate the softer looking vegetation patches in the foreground. Like Mike, I see this working well as a panorama. Nice work. Sep 16th
52 Sep 25 Comment Wow, what a rare opportunity to see this endangered bird so up close and personal. Mike's comment that it is pretty made me laugh. I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The detail in the head and the neck feathers is amazing. I am a bit bothered by the softness of the shoulder feathers. I think you might be able to mask and selectively sharpen that area, which for me would improve the image. Sep 16th
52 Sep 25 Comment I really like the composition. I think the dragonfly pops out nicely from the background; it is sharply captured with lots of detail. Well done in my opinion. Sep 16th
52 Sep 25 Comment I love it when these Clear Wings start showing up in my garden in late summer. You have captured a nice sharp image with lots of detail. For me, the bold color and brightness of the flower distracts from the subject. I would play around with the saturation and lumiosity masking of purple an magenta to see if that could be toned down. Next I would look at the yellow and green tones. Matbe make yellow more green, and tone it down. Sep 16th
52 Sep 25 Comment Great shot! I think these two cubs are adorable!. It is almost as if they posed for their portrait. In my opinion you have done a good job with the post processing. My only suggestions would be to open up the shadows to the right a little bit. Sep 16th
52 Sep 25 Comment Thanks, Ally. To quote something Mike often says, "Manual is for the birds." AV lets you control the aperture (DOF) but not the shutter speed, and in my opinon that is critical for bird photography. Try it. it is not as hard as you might think. Sep 16th
52 Sep 25 Reply Thanks, Tom/ Good suggestions. We are on a long road trip enroute to Portland for Festival then down the Pacific Coast. I will make a note of your suggestions for when I get home and get back to work. Sep 16th
52 Sep 25 Reply Inteesting take on the crop. I have a tendancy to think square, but I will try a portrait orientation that would result from your suggestions. Thanks for an alternate idea. Sep 16th
