For some reason I usually pass up Anhingas, but seeing this, next time I will take a closer look...you have captured it in a way that shows it at its best. The wings and tail are perfect and rendered in sharp detail. To me, the bright green folliage detracts from the bird even though the color is a repeat of his mating plumage. I would suggest selecting just the folliage then reduce saturation and luminance. |

This is a beautiful image in my opinion. I see it as a very large canvas gallery wrap. The colors are calming and restful. Personally, I would not change a thing. |

Polly, I am so sorry that we had all this difficulty getting your image posted this month. I was hoping you would post the other version in the comments so everyone could see what you have done with it. Nonetheless, I think you have gotten some good suggestions and should be able to use this original to create a "keeper." I am still traveling, but if you would like to resend an edited version after the 24th I will post it and let everyone know that they need to take another look. |

I think this is a beutiful subject in beautiful light. The depth of field is perfect in my opinion giving you a distraction free background. I think that the others have made good suggstions so I will not repeat them. I would suggest removing at least the bit of vegitation sticking up above the branch to the left of the bird in your main image, and in front of it if you decide to go with the other shot. Well done, Ally. |

Some things are are strangely beautiful. I think you achieved perfect depth of field. The feather details are sharp as is the eye. I presume you had muted light from the right allowing us to see the catch light in the bird's eye - very lifelike. I agree with the others about the bright leaf, but otherwise I would not change a thing. |

Because I am traveling this month, I can only view this on my laptop rather than a large monitor, so please bear with me. In my opinion, this is a strong nature story. I like the wing position of the eagle and the sharp head and eye. As Mike and Tom noted, you might try to open up the shadows especially on the under side of the wings. I would also suggest darkening the foreground a bit to keep the viewer's eye on the action. |
