I definitely understand. My second term as PSA Secretary will end in September. I am going to take on a couple other jobs in PSA but nothing as time -consuming as this has been. I also want to be more active in my church's women's group )as long as they do not make me lead or chair anything!). Glad to hear your passion for photography has not waned. |

Thanks for your comments, Ally. Out local camera club has an image analysis meeting coming iup where we get a PSA judge to comment on our submitted images (no competition, just critique). I am planning to submit this for his/her analysis as I hope to use it eventually in competition. |

It looks like he actually posed for you and begged to have his picture taken. I love the colors in this image, and of course it si tack sharp as your images always are; but what is most impressive to me is the way you have captured the light. I have no suggestions for improvement. To me this image is beautiful. |

Nice work with that long lens, Judith! You have got a good nature story and I am impressed with the sharp detail on the bird. I lke Mike's suggested edits to enhance this image. If you plan to use this image for any kind of Nature competiton be careful not to darken the water so much that it is unrealistic. Other than that, I havce no suggestions. |

I think you did a good job of getting down to the level of your subject which is a perfect perspective to make me feel I am right there in the scene. The image also has a good nature story. I feel the entire face of the otter is a bit soft, and as has been pointed out, the background is in sharp focus. For wildlife and birds I really like the animal eye tracking ability of the R5. If you use that combined with back button auto focus the liklihood of getting the face and especially the eye of your subject is greatly increased. Ron Bielefield (Whistling Wings Photography) has a great YouTube video on this. You might want to looks him up. (PS - I think he is a friend of Mike's.) |

This is another lovely landscape from you. To me the colors really pop. In framing up a composition with these nice diagonals I personally like to have at least one of the diagonal lines exit the image at a corner. Too me that just feels stronger. I am thinking you might want to crop at the bottom so the leading line exits bottom right. This would be an even more panoramic image. Try it and see what you think. |

Good work catching this decisive moment! The detail on the birds and the sense of action and anticipation create a lot of impact in my opinon. I feel the image is a bit too warm. My first instinct would be to move the white balance slider to cool it down a bit. I think it woudl help the background and would make the color of the birds more they way I see them in nature. |

What a tender scene! Even before reading the comments I had the same thought as Mike. I like the image cropped in closer much better because, as you say, it feels more intimate. I just learned anew trick to add "pop" - you might want to try it. In PS make a new adjustmetn layer and choose Vibrance. Run both sliders ll the way to the right (it will look terribe at this point). Choose Blendig Mode Screena and reduce the opacity to suit your taste. I have been using this a bit and like the results I am getting. Good luck. |

Happy Hpidays to you as well, Ann. I have mixed feeling about that little peiece of driftwood in the front, so I will experiment with it and see what I think. I did some work around the horizon and to me it does register as straight now. Thanks for your helpful comments. |

Thanks, Polly. i too am on the fence about that little bit of driftwood in the front. I may make a duplicate and take it out so I can compare. I have worked a bit more on that bright area as well. All these suggestions are really helpful to me. |

Mike, thanks for helping me solve that horizon issue. I also think it appears to be off, but I have checked it over and over and found that it is straight. Your observation about the line of the wave explains it. I will follow up on your other suggestons as well. |
