Arkansas has quite a few trees like this, and the legend here is also that the indigenous people used them to mark trails and indicate directions. Personally, I have always thought there must be a more natural explanation. Nevertheless, I like the mystery in this image, and I think the reflection makes it more than just a snapshot. I find the color palette appealing. To me, the sky doesn not anything and I would crop to remove it. |

Like Mike, I immediately noticed the halos. While I understand they might be interpreted as being "glass art," I see them as an artifact, and would prefer to have then removed. If you want to do that you can use the clone tool in PS; put it on darken and adjust the opacity as necessary. The color palette is very nice in my opinon and I get the stoy of survival that you are telling. Very creative in my opinion. |

Polly, I love the interaction between the adult and the pup. I think you have a very strong nature story in this image. To me it feels very intimate. The eyes of both animals are tack sharp an life-like. My only idea about other ways to edit it would be to also try it in monochrome. |

My first thought when I viewed your image was that the tones were very cool. I took your original into LR and used the WB slider to warm it up some. I also used the dehaze slider to get a little more clarity in the mountain. See my visual feedback. |

To me this is a nice sharp image and the pose of the heron suggests movemen. That ,combined with the intesity of his gaze, tells me he is stalking, so I feel there is a nature story. The others have suggested some cloning, and since the edits you have already made rule out entering it in any PSA nature competition I would certainly try it. The object on which the bird is balanced does not quite fit with the foot so does not look natural to me. Maybe the dark wood obect could be scaled in PS to better fit with that foot. |

I like the way you have cropped this image - not too tight with room for the coyote to move forward. I also think you got the WB correct. The snow looks white to me,not gray or blue. The image looks sharply focused to me ,including the eye. I would not change anything. |

I think what you are seeing is little clouds of haze. |
