Thank for your comments, Ally. I get your point about the separation. That would be ideal . I was burst shooting, but none of the images in the sequence have that separation and still have the wings in a good "power position." This one is my favorite from the series, so I will try it in competition and see how it does. |

Thanks for the feedback, Pam. I am not sure how I am going to use this image, but will likely at least try it in exhibitions. |

Judith, this image was captured at sunset and the light was very low from the right. Camera was hand held. I think you suggestion to emphasize the ice is a good one. Thank you. |

I don't know where Dinner island is, but this oculd be a scene from Arkansas. I think you have captured the sunrise well.To me you have made good use of leading lines. Sometimes it is hard to tell with these small images, but I would consider trying to open up the shadows on both sides of the road just a bit to give the viewer more detail and and ideal of what is inside the covered coral. |

To me this is a very graphic image. The pattern of the birds moves my eye smoothly upward through the image. I like how you have handled the tonality, and the soft sepia toning is very good, inmy opinon. |

To me the eye is very sharp...that is most important in my opinion. I think the wings and the flower look a bit soft; stoppoing it down just a bit, say to f/5.6 might have gotten more in focus. I believe that darkening the background and adding the vignette helpted the viewer stay focused on the insect. Since we do not have the origianl I cannot tell how much the background has been darkened. This would be a great image for an open exhibition, but darkening the background and adding the vignette would not be allowed in the Nature Division. Not a problem, just something to keep in mind. |

I think I see what you were trying to do with the composition. I too would have thought to place the buds on or near that power point, The leaf being close to the right edge does not bother me, but I may have left a bit more room at the top. I find the colors very visually appealing. The background bokeh elimnaes alldistractions for me...I think you made a good choice of aperture. |

I think the loon is well-capture; the eye has catch light and looks like it is very sharp. I like the composition and where youhave placed the loon in the frame. For me, the luminosity of the background is distracting. Personally, I am always puzzled about the best way to handle bright rippling water. Perhaps this is the best that can be done with it. |

Thank you, Mike. This was our 5th trip to New Mexico to photograph the cranes. I think I have finally figured out how to do get some decent shots. Slow learner. |

Thanks for you feedback Ann. I captured a whole series of images from this landing but this one is the one that I think is best. I hope the exhibition judges agree with you. |
