I don't think you should remove the purple flower - I suggest cloning it and putting another one on the left for balance. I think the background is lovely - the lens falloff looks perfect to me and the bird (I would expect no less from you) is tack sharp. Apart from teh flower I would not change a thing, |

This is a lovely impressionistic image in my opion. Personally, I prefer the original - I usually gravitate toward portrait orientation for images like this one. In the original my eye travels upward along the trunks; also that presentation emphasizes height and a reaching toward the sky. In the landscape orientation my eye has a harder time traveling smoothly through the image. I like the color as opposed to the more yellow-green presentation. Very artistic - as usual. |

I too would appreciate knowing the lens and other technical details of how you captured this image. I am guessing the aperture was wide as the falloff in sharpness is just right to get your subject in focus and the background nicely blurred, It looks like a sunney day so low ISO, but can't ell about shutter speed. More information is what we are looking for in this group as that helps us learn.
Although the background is blurred, the merger of the subject with the tree behind is, in my opinon, less than ideal. Also, I would like to see a little more space above the bird. Otherwise, as always, I think your post processing is well done. |

I think your choice of aperture worked really well here. In my opinion the fall off in focus is just right, I also think you have somewhat of a nature story in this image. I know these birds are smart and mischievous so your title tells it all. My only suggestions would be to tone doen the log a little and select and add a little light to the eye of the bird on the right. Well done. |

Thanks for your comments, Judith. No, I don't do much with sound or video. And yes, I have already entered this in at least one Nature salon but don't have results yet. Juies in Nature often give a lot of weight to story, which may not be real strong in this image, so we shall see. |

Thanks, Pam. I only wish it would have been colder so that his breath would be visible. But I had to take what nature gave me. |
