Thanks, Mike. Those are some good ideas. I will continue to work with this image I already sold a canvas of it, but there is always room for improvement. I would alos like to use it in competition, so I wll followup on your ideas. |

Thank you, Tammie. Seems like there are two opinons about that fuscia cast at the bottom. I will experiment and see which way I like it best. |

I think what you are perceiveing as softness in the body is actually the closer wing which is in motion. These guys are a challenge to photograph without flash. I have done it with flash but you have to put the flash off camera or you get "marble eye." That requires a lot of set up and sometimes I am just too lazy to drag all that equipment out. |

Thanks, Ann. I especially appreciate the positive response from you since I know this is a subject you also spend time on. The only thing about this that I wish was different is that I really preferto see their feet, and this one had his all tucked up. But since other factors seemed to work I decided to go with this shot. |

I see a gaping mouth and a cyclops eye! Very spooky! You have captured an image that engages me and holds my interest. Isn't that what we are going for? I must admit that I would likely have passed this by, so hats off to you for seeing it and stopping to create this image. |

I really liked this image the moment I saw it. The color and luminosity of the bee against the soft pastel flower is for me very visually appealing. Also the way you have framed it puts the bee in what I feel is just the right position in the frame and his body is on a diagonal line - opposite the soft diagonal of the flower petal. So on many levels, this image works for me. I am wondering about the direction of the light. the contrast in the bee and the sense of drama make me think backlight, but I also wonder if it is from the top left? It is amazing to me how the quality and direction of light can make or break an image, In my opinon, you have done a good job of working with the available light regardless of which direction it comes from. |

I think you have captured a decisive moment. The Osprey is sharp and well-exposed in my opinion. The wings are in a strong position and the feathers are very detailed. The only thing that I think would improve this image would be if the Osprey had a fish and/or there was a juvenile in the nest. But we have to take what nature gives us and I believe you have made the most of it. |

I think you have captured very nice detail on the head and upper thorax of the bee. Very impressive in tht you are shooting hand held with a macro lens. The red Bottle Brush takes up a lot of real estate, and for me the intense color is where my eye wants to go. I think it might work to crop some from the top maybe even tilt the frame so that there is less of it. That would also result in some soft diagonal lines I think. You could also try reducing the saturation and luminosity of red to see if that makes the bee stand out more. Try it and see if it works. |

To me this is a very artistic presentation. The pelican seems to me to to be perfectly exposed, and the black water effect, along with the reflection, is visually appealing to me. Happily those moments when we don't have time to change the settings result in lovely effects. Your post processing decisions seem just right to me. What are your plans for this image? I think it is worthy of a canvas gallery mount. |

The first thing that struck me when viewing this image is the mood it conveys - power and mystery in my opinion. For me it has a minimalist appeal - something I always look for in compositions but don't often find. Then I notice the texture of the waterfall. I can almost feel the mist. So on many levels, this image speaks to me. I think the rock detail is a good contrast to the softness of the water. Have you consiered this in monochrome? I think it might work well. Other than that, to me, this image works and I would not change anything. |

Thanks for your comments, Judith. I definitely see what you mean about repeating te fuchsia hue, and I will think about that as an option. |
