I think you have to take into account where you're hanging it, and your personal decor style, but for me it says "Canvas!" |

Are you going with canvas or matte and glass? |

Like Lisa I tried to zoom in to see the eyes better, but the image, when I try to open it up, is enormous. I know your camera has 50 or so megapixels, so maybe that is the reason. Knowing you so well, and being familiar with the tracking system on your camera, I will take it for granted that the eyes are tack sharp!
To me it seems like a very good nature story. I think the three birds give the image strength and the added canvas provides a sense of forward motion. Finally, the blue and green color palette is very natural and appealing to me. Well done. |

Personally, I really like the backlighting on this image. The way you have dealth with the specular highlights makes the backgorund appear to have some texture, which I think works well. There is a lot of stem and the vertal line leads my eye up to the flower. I wondered if it would be a bit mroe dynamic if the lines were more diagonal See my visual feedback and decide what you think. You might want to consider trying this in monochrome as well. |

I think you captured these gnetle creatures in great light, and the backgroudn has very nice bokeh. The orange and blue color combination is beautiful in my opinion. There are some rules about photographing wildlife that I perosnally try to stick to. One of these is about cropping off parts of the subject. For me, the cropped off legs are not working. Also the giraffe on the right very close to the edge of the frame and looking in the wrong direction. I wish he was looking at the other two giraffes. After consideration I think you could make this work better by cropping as I indicated in the attached visual feedback. To me it makes the crop seem more deliberate and makes the focal point the "criss-cross" of the two giraffes' necks. My only other suggestion woudl be to brighten and sharpen the eye on fhte head on the let as Lisa has suggested. |

Over many years I have spent a lot time in Montana and this image brings back some very good memories. I think your choice of a panoramic presentation is perfect. I like the soft diagonal lines of the hills in the middle ground area which make the image more dynamic than if it ws entirely horizontal ines. To me the sky appears to be too cyan. I would suggest changing the hue too e a bit more blue. In my opinion, the image appears flat. I would suggest doing some dodge and burn especially to the folliage to give the image more depth. |

I can almost sense the cold air and peaceful easy feeling. Snow is sometimes a challenging subject due to WB issues, but I think you have gotten the color tmeperature perfect. I notice the strong horizontal lines, They draw me in and move my eye toward the edges.. A personal "nit pick" of mine is things on the edge that appear to be cut off, so I would consider cropping on the right to remove the partial tree. Next I notice the curved lines going upward to the trees which I think add strength to the composition. It makes me wonder what is just behind the tree line. For me, this is a very visually appealing image. I believe it would make a lovely canvas print. |

I was just thinking more about your question...in Nature you are permitted to clone out sensor dust spots. |

I have entered the origianl version in Nature and it has been accepted. It has not been in any way that is prohibited. I have entered the processed version in Color Open and Small Prints, but do not have results yet. |

Thanks for your comments Ljisa. I have put this in the PSA International Print Competition. It already has some acceptances in digital - On Thursday I just got the results of the first time I entered it. That is not a dust spot in the upper right. It is just the natural color of foliage, but perhaps I whoudl clone it out anyway. |

Ally, the male heron brings the stick and if the female accepts it indicates she is willing to mate with him. It's sort of like an engagement ring. Then they begin to build the nest…he bings the material and she arranges it. |
