Group Round C/R Comment Date Image
35 Nov 20 Comment I like the high key look very much. Fantasy is a good title, but the first word that came to my mind when I looked at it was, "ephemeral," which I think suggests something that is fleeting. In my opinon this would make a beautiful canvas print - as large as possible. Icould see it taking up a lot of wall space. For me it evokes a calm, peaceful feelng. Nov 14th
35 Nov 20 Comment I think this is a worthy subject and it works well in IR. Thank you for sharing some of the steps you took in CLIR. It sounds like you are beginning to establish a workflow - something I have not yet figured out for myself. I think that the foliage on the left does not add much to the image and would suggest cropping it out. I also wonder if the strong shadows could be opened up a bit. Nov 14th
35 Nov 20 Comment I think this is a very pretty scene and your post processiseems to me to be spot on. For me the lines leading to the bridge work well. The texture of tree trunk is interesting, and in my opinion the trunk and and the branches above frame the subject nicely. Well done. Nov 14th
35 Nov 20 Comment Another image from one of my favorite locations! I was hoping to get back there this year but...
I think your post processing has resulted in good tonal range. My eye is pulled into the far distance as seen from the "window." The texture of the stucco provides me with a sense of how old this structure is. I especially like that spike vegitaton at the bottom agains the black background Everything looks sharp.
I wonder why I don't get those very magenta originals with my 590mm conversion? Mine ususally looks more gold and teal. I sometimes wonder if it is actually 590nm or if some error ewas made at Life Pixel. Who knows?

35 Nov 20 Comment For me this is very interesting subject matter. Thank you for providing the background information. You certainly made the best of a wet gloomy day, and your treatment of the sky adds additional interest. Your decision to crop out the foliage at the bottom also works for me. I like the prespective and the composition. To me it is a fine image and I would not change anything. Nov 14th
35 Nov 20 Comment To me this is a very pleasant pastoral scene...gives me a sense of calm in troubled times. I'll bet it was beautiful in color as well. You did not indicate your aperture setting, but you have obviusly stopped it down enough to get it sharp all the way back to the mountains. I see a good tonal range from black to whites with plenty of mid tones. The gap in the fence lets my eye move smoothly into the mid-gound and on to the mountains. I think the slightly darker immediate foreground keeps my eye in the image. My only suggestion would be to add a slight vignette. Nov 14th

40 Nov 20 Comment Hi Julie...I am another visitor from Group 52. I love the action you have caught in this image. It looks like they are singing a duet. I agree with the others from my group that the birds need a little more room to breathe. Except for that section of fence on the top left the background is blurred enough to eliminate the distraction, so I would begin in LR by brushing negative clarity into the section. If you don't get enough results that way there are vinette blurs in some other software programs that would be useful. I would be happy to elaborate on that if you wish. I think Mike is right on with his ideas for brightening up the eye. Nice work, in my opinion. Nov 12th

52 Nov 20 Reply Wonderful! That is a great nature experience in my opinion. Nov 11th
52 Nov 20 Comment As you know, I tend to lean toward a bit of motion blur as something that adds to an image rather than detracting from it. I like the crop you originally presented because it gives me more of a sense of forward motion. Sometimes darkening blown out areas creates an unnatural look, but if you had not said what you did I would not have even looked closely at that area. It seems natural to me. EVent hose tiniy drops of water are tack sharp. You amaze me! Nov 11th
52 Nov 20 Comment I have found that shooting through a window is more difficult than it would seem. I note that you did this hand held, so I am guessing you used auto focus. My experience is that to get a sharp image through glass it is usually necessasry to use manual focus, and often a polarizer helps. I sometimes use a deer hunter chair blind to capture backyard birds. Very comfortable and has a cup holder for my coffee when it is cold. Mike has given you some good suggestions, so there is nothing for me to add there. Nov 11th
52 Nov 20 Comment I think this is a good capture of an interesting moment in nature. The tack sharp wing and the foot which the bird on the right has raised adds a kind of tension to the story for me. I wonder how this interaction ended - who stayed and who left?
For me the very bright upper background is a distraction and I feel the bird on lthe right, which is the most interesting of the two, has its eye lost in shadow. I would suggest luminosity masking layers to correct this,a nd bet the entire image correctly exposed. Also, I woudl consider a little tighter crop. Try it and see what you think.

52 Nov 20 Comment I am quite partial to diagonal liones which I feel add strength to a composition, so this presentation works for me. In my opinion, you have done a good job of showing the multiple layers in this mountain scene. The "party" of course is in the golden aspens, but I think some additioanl attention to the blues in the far background nd the sky would enhance the image. Like Mike, I think it needs some dhaze on the mountains and some clarity brushed into the sky. Otherwise, I find this a very visually pleasing image. Nov 11th
52 Nov 20 Comment The blue and orange in this image are a beautiful combination in my opinion. I noted the comment above about it being titled and tried to assess this. Based on the shoreline in the background, I think it is straight. To me the image seeems just a little bit flat. Selective adjustments to brightness, saturation an luminosity in the trees would give it more drama and make it pop. Nov 11th
52 Nov 20 Comment Talk about capturing a decisive moment, you really did it! The eye of the adult is sharp and life-like and the detail around the inside of the mouth is amazing. I do not know anything about this species and its nesting habits which makes me wonder if you were shotting from a blind to get this close? I think this is a strong nature story and technically well-done. Nov 11th
52 Nov 20 Reply This question of oversharpening puzzles me, but I value your opinon. To me, it looks very realistic as there is just so much texture in those rocks. Would you be willing to let me send you a higher resolution image via email to take a look at and see what you think? Nov 11th
52 Nov 20 Reply Thanks for your comments LC. Since reading your feedback I have gone back and taken a very close-up look, especially at the foreground. I have a 4K 27 inch monitor so I am able to look at it quite closely. I simply do not see the oversharpening and graininess that you are referring to. Is it compeletly across the foreground, or are you looking at a specific area? I am asking because I have hopes for this image and would go back to the original and try to correct this kind of a flaw. In this version what I see is very true to the actual textures in the landscape I observed. Any further clarification you can give me will be appreciate. Nov 10th
52 Nov 20 Reply Thanks, Mike. I think a luminosity mask is a good idea and I will do that. I apprefciate your thoughtful comments. Nov 10th
52 Nov 20 Reply Thanks, Pam. I was indeed fortunate to have those clouds that morning. Otherwise, it was a mosty cloudless week. For once, Nature gave me a break. Nov 10th
