This is a fantastically interesting building and your processing is very effective in my opinion. What interferes with my total enjoyment of the scene is the tree structure protruding into the image from the left. (I have this pet peeve about things sticking into images that are sort of disconnected.) If this were my image, I would crop it to a vertical and focus on the building. |

I think you achieved nice contrast and tonal range, but I find this image is so busy that I don't know where to look. Where is the party? I think, for me, it is the main boat on the right, so I would try to crop about a third of the image on the left. That may interfere with the cloud structure, but I would try it and see what you think. |

Wow, April...very creative. It gives me all kinds of ideas about other things that could be done with IR that I have never considered before, so thanks for the inspiration.
I like the detain I see in the inner circle. I think that if this image were mine I would create a new layer with a mask and make everything outside the circle black. That may not be your vision, however. In any case, I believe this image has a lot of artistic potential. |

For me, Original number 2 works the best in terms of treatment. I think Helen's suggestion of cropping off the building on the left and focusing the viewer's attention on the lines formed by the trees and the urns is a good one. I think you might be able to bring out more detail in foliage using NIK Viveza - increase contrast and structure in those areas. In my opinion, this image may be a diamond in the rough, so well worth working on. |

I find this image very appealing. The subject matter is one I love, and you have capture amazing detail in the Joshua Tree. The sky is perfect for this desert scene in my opinion, and it appears to me that you have excellent tonal range. I think you made great choices in post processing and brought out the best in an already great subject. You should consider sending this off to one of the salons. If you print it, I think it might look good on metallic paper. |

Great shot! I imagine it took quite a bit of patience and hanging out in the right location to get this. Your image is tack sharp as always. Have you considered desaturating and increasing the luminance of blue to create an all white background? I know I am grasping at straws with that suggestion and that it would not necessarily make this wonderful image any better, but just a different look. Otherwise, I can't think of anything but "Wow!" |

I love the colors in this image and think you have presented the flower well. I see that the stamen and pistels in the foreground area are quite sharp, but as the main stamen (am I identifying that tall part of the flower correctly?) recedes to a more distant plane the focus is lost. You might try sharpening it, but I am not sure if it can actually be brought into focus or not. It could be that a focus stack would be the only way to solve this problem. Since it was an indoor situation where there would be no or very little wind, that might have been the way to go. Use a tripod. Use manual focus. Keep the aperture, shutter speed and ISO constant but delicately change the focus over 4 or 5 shots to get it all sharp. Then open as layers in PS and align them. It is not easy, but with practice you will get good results. |

The Reddish Egret is a favorite of mine - they seem too have so much personality and energy. The mirror-like reflection is the star of this image for me. I also like the shape that is created by the reflection around the neck area. It's too bad we can't see the entire reflection, but it is still a very pleasing image. |

The strong diagonal line works well in my opinion. The lush foliage is quite beautiful. I like the various greens and the blue mountains in the background. In my opinion I would adjust it to add more contrast and tonal range. I think Mike has the same idea with his edit. I adds to the drama. |

For me the composition works because the river leads my eye to the back and ends on the power point. I am wondering about the f/5.6 aperture and the very fast shutter speed. Personally, I believe this would have been a more interesting image if you had stopped it down to at least f/11 and slowed the shutter speed to at least 1/3 sec. which would have softened the water without loss of detail. The sky has some nice clouds, but the time of day it was shot was, in my opinion, not ideal. The tones in this image (not the colors) are all very similar as I see it. If this were my image I would convert to monochrome and add a curves layer to expand the tonal range as much as possible. |

I think the colors in this image are lovely, and the bokeh works well to eliminate all distractions. I do see two white spots in the upper part of the image that you should consider removing. In my opinion, the only thing that would make this a stronger image would be if the two subjects appeared to be looking at each other. Otherwise, this is an image i would consider printing and hanging on the wall. |
