I like both versions. I do find the original to give more definition to the light coming from the archways where the B/W I sort of wonder what it is. I left the color and lightened up the door at the end.
The B/W does have nice contrasts and sharpness. Both are good. |

Very nice capture for a very fast moving car. I agreed with Al about the lines and I also did some burning on the colored part of the track. Could be done better, I'm sure but I wanted to focus more on the car. Lightened the car slightly and a tad of sharpening. |

I like the original - I removed the sign but otherwise kept the colors the same. To me, there is more detail in the original with the houses and such. I agree that the final appears to be over-processed and the sky, especially, looks noisy to me. It is a great capture though. |

For me, the reflection is neat but my eyes keep trying to find where it's coming from. There seems to be a little of the shore there but not enough for me. |

You did a nice job with the exposure corrections. I felt the same way about the sky. I just cropped in a little tighter than Jerry without moving the boat. I kind of thought the large boat at the dock contrasted with the sailboat. Of course we lose the imposing structures of the buildings. Guess you can't have everything in a shot like this. |

Perhaps I darkened it too much. Seems good on my monitor but it is quite bright. |

Beautiful! I agree with Jerry about the people and I like the composition with them in the lower left and the rays going out in the upper right. Good job! |

Interesting shot. The poppies really stand out. I'm torn between liking this as is and cropping out the two on the left. I sort of feel those two take my eyes left then I go back right to the four. Sort of like having 2 subjects. Just for kicks, I tried cropping a little.
It's a striking image though. Nice job with the lighting. |

Catching the backlit rose is great. I rather agree with the bee on the right being soft however they do move pretty quickly. I am more concerned about the browned petal in the lower right and so I like the rework Linda did to isolate the single rose. |

For me, having some of the natural background begs for a stem whereas the black background seems fine for the flower to be floating. |

Thanks to all. Great suggestions.
This project is an example of what I would like to do in August - take an image that doesn't seem worthy and make something out of it.
Please send me your image so I can do a random assign and so you will have time to work on them. Thanks! |

Very nice - tack sharp. I like the way you have brought out the lighting on the top of the bud. Looks like a spotlight on it. Beautiful image. |

I agree with David regarding the detail. The original flower seems to me to have more definition. Adding the dark background kind of muddles it for me. It's an interesting concept and nicely done from an artistic point of view. |

I sort of like both images - and David's. I agree with him on adding some light there. It gives more definition to the flower. While I like the softness of the final, I also like the "realness" of the original. Nice job either way. |

I think the lighting may be making it a little too "fake" green. However the image is striking. I tried flipping it horizontally and toning down the green a little. Overall it was an image that caught my eye right away. Good job. |
