22 Mar 22 Reply I'm going to differ and say I like the crop as is. It seems to be even with the ears on the right side.
As I looked at this image again, I feel the light areas on the left side body could be cloned out. To me they seem like a halo rather than the lighter parts of the background as in the other areas. It is an outstanding image!

22 Mar 22 Comment How to take a "record shot" and turn it into something spectacular. Nice work.
One of the first things I noticed was the eye and the skin. You've really brought out the textures and bumps on his hide.

22 Mar 22 Comment Yes, I'd take a little off the left side. Also there are some thin branches on the left side cactus stem (barrel?).
The oil painting filter gives it an appealing look for me.

22 Mar 22 Comment Good capture of the dunes-especially in a sandstorm. I agree with Peggy - I don't care for the flip. I have heard that people look in a #7 - top left to right and down. These dunes in Joe's version make me go up toward the sky.
The sky, while pretty, looks a little brighter than the time of day of the dunes - at least in Joe's rendition.

22 Mar 22 Comment While I had the image out, I tried a crop for what Peggy suggested. Mar 6th
22 Mar 22 Comment Sorry Joe - I like the direction the way he shot it. :)
I feel to keep it balanced (with the 3 flower stems) you need to keep the flower without the butterfly in the image - otherwise my eye would go back and forth between the two. I removed the dead stems and saturated both the flowers and the butterflies.

22 Mar 22 Comment Pretty flower. I also like the blur effect. I find the one drooping petal a little distracting. It kind of indicates the flower is not at it's peak. Also I prefer the lighter pastel coloring of the original. The final seems a little over saturated on my monitor. Mar 6th
22 Mar 22 Comment I like the curve of the shoreline. To me, it seems as though the overall coloring changed from the original and the trees and foreground seem more harsh in the lighting. A few clouds in the sky might make the sky more interesting. Mar 6th
22 Mar 22 Reply The setting was 1/10. Mar 6th
22 Mar 22 Reply I did the crop to keep it off center. Mar 6th
22 Mar 22 Reply I agree with Peggy. If you go to the end of the land, I see the horizon being straight. Mar 6th
