Cropped image attached. Have taken the opportunity to add a grad filter and darken the water to remove distracting highlights. I take your point Dan about the shutter speed, I could easily have raised the iso to have achieved it, but was thinking of simple portraits at the time.

Thanks both for your comments. Looking at the image again I realize I should crop most of the reflection off! It does not look good to have just the blackbirds head removed! |

Great shot of an eagle in flight feeding. I think you have controlled the whites well but could lighten the blacks a bit more, especially under the wings. It seems pretty sharp to me considering you have used gigapixel. |

I admire your tenacity. Tough to get a simple image when the birds are located in the open like this. I can not see an easy way to improve the image but enjoy the dynamic of the birds as they take flight. |

Hi Frans, welcome. Really nice image of the heron; particularly enjoy the dynamic angle of the bird in the frame with space to move into. The highlights are well controlled and nice detail in the darks. The top of the bill looks a bit burned out to me. If it were mine, I think I would have lifted the shadows in the background a tad and perhaps slightly desaturated the greens. Either that or darkened the blues in the background to the left to make the bird stand out more. The standard of nature is so high these days to get awards is very demanding. |

Really like this image. The composition is great and the spider is particularly attractive which is the icing on the cake. No changes! |

Nice to see the bird in its natural setting. Enjoy the composition. For me I would be inclined to brighten the shadows so that we can see the head and breast more, and especially the eye. I would also be inclined to remove the bright whites top right. They add nothing and are distracting. |
