Stunning capture Dan! Sorry I did not see this earlier. If mine, I would straighten the shore, that also has the effect of levelling the highest points on the wings more. Ideally a bit more space all around the bird and more on our right than left. You can reduce the impact of the background by selecting and reducing orange in Photoshops color mixer under CRF. Also increase the luminance of the pink by playing with the reds. The bird really does pop out then! Finally, I really like the blue between the eyes and bill. Well worth making adjustments to increase the saturation just in that area. Thanks for comment on my image. |

Thanks for your comments Dhananjay. I must admit I often choose to take photographs when it is raining, or better snowing. Such images have done well for me in salons. |

Really enjoy this impactful image. I would not worry about using iso64. The D850 can easily handle much higher ISO without significant noise and you used Topaz DeNoise in any case! I think I would want a bit more detail on the face and left flank and the eyes could be illuminated a tad to good effect. The color of the grass and the dust really add to the image. Being picky, there is a slight light spot in bottom right corner which could be cloned out. Well worth spending a bit more time in post processing. |

Nice capture. Always good to have more space in the direction of the birds' flight. So, a slight crop on the right would help. Judges always look for space for the birds to fly into! At a shutter speed of 1/2000s almost every movement is frozen so panning or otherwise will make little difference. Try using a shutter speed of 1/50s with a single swan in flight. Hard to do, but the results can be amazing with blurred wings and a frozen [in focus] head and neck. Very much 'in' at the moment. |

Not at all familiar with this stunning orchid. Enjoy the fact that the stem comes down from above to give a symmetrical necklace effect, great colors. Personally, I would want the bright light behind the flowers dimmed but no problem with the focus dropping away as your eye moves to the edges of the group. However, I would want the 5th flower from left [4th from right] in focus. |

Very artistic image. The colors work well together. I quite like the bokeh but I know it is not to everyone's taste, especially for a Nature image. There is some nice detail on the head showing the ocelli and antennae nicely. I also like the pseudo-pupil [black spot]. If you had increased the DoF you would be obliged to get all the insect in focus and risk making the background more distracting; Tricky! |

Thanks so much for your comments. Yes, an increase in contrast did help [see attached image]. I tried to achieve the same using curves but it really did not work! The vulture is not wild and so the metal ring is an eyelet on a leather strap attached to the leg and used by the falconers. Have cloned it out on the attached image for comparison, but would normally leave in. |
