Sheldon, this image has tremendous visual impact and immediately captures the viewer's attention. It sparked my curiosity and compelled me to learn more about the prison and the tragic, inhumane events that took place there. As mentioned above, your choice of location was perfect for creating such a powerful photograph. I also appreciate the color version-it adds another compelling dimension. The image is exceptionally sharp, with outstanding clarity and definition. |

Mohanan, this is an outstanding image. Your model really pops and the flames are super. The lighting accentuates the story and you have sharpness where needed. The only object that drew my eye from the model was the tree or limb by her left shoulder. I removed it. Hope you don't mind. |

Mike, the colors, sharpness, definition, and expression are all fantastic. For me, the only thing that wasn't quite working was the background - please don't shoot the messenger. I tried swapping it out for something more neutral to see how it felt overall. What do you think of it now as a complete piece? |

Veysi, thank you for your comments. We have many great places, depending on season, for bird photography but I am sure your country has the same. This bird as I mentioned was taken in a huge zoo in Miami. The communications director is an avid photographer, as a result, this zoo is keep with the photographer in mind. As a result, no fences. The bird Aviary is huge and very natural. You can spend hours in it. You never know what will be coming out of the vegetation. We have another world traveler in our group and all of her bird photography is amazing (Leslie Larson). Our bird group actually has many outstanding bird photographers, yourself included. |

Jim, this is a National Geographic shot. Can't find anything I would change. I was in a bird/nature class years ago and they stressed never take a pure side profile shot. They said if you can catch a slight turn of the head, as you have in this image, that is exactly what you want. Awesome image. |

Thank you for your kind words Jim. I do agree with you that the background is distracting but I really didn't know what to do with it other than darken it. By the way Jim, if ou ever get a chance to go to Miami Zoo being a fellow photographer you would just love it. There are no fences. All the animals are surrounded by moats. Nothing to mess up your shots. |

Great documentary shot of some folks about to do what they really enjoy doing. Love the name of the "Not So OK Corral". Did feel it needed a little spa space on the bottom below his shoe. Wish you had some images of them firing black powder. Well done. |

Love this image, Tom - you've got a great eye. The symmetry really works here, and capturing a scene like this on a cruise ship makes it even more impressive. The image is sharp with excellent detail, and overall it's a lot of fun to look at with strong composition.
I made just a few minor tweaks: straightened some of the vertical and horizontal lines, lightened the chair and surrounding area a bit, and added a touch of sharpening to the carpet. Hopefully these small adjustments help enhance what was already a fantastic image! |

Terry, your image has great visual impact and interest. The hot background is unfortunately very distracting. I hope you don't mind, I took the liberty to play with your image. I tried just darkening but it just didn't look right. I tried some cloning of the candy apple red and because there are no definitive lines that was just impossible. I then took a quick selection of just the chrome, did inverse then darkened everything. Unfortunately, your beautiful candy apple red also went dark but it did make all the crome features pop. Please don't shoot the messenger. |

That's the whole beauty of it: the old car, partially hidden, slowly reclaimed by time. Old Car City holds thousands of vehicles once fenced off and forgotten for more than forty years, until their quiet resting place was opened to photographers and wanderers. You can walk for hours among cars, buses, and trucks, each one softened by moss, vines, and rust-some with trees growing straight through their frames. It feels less like a junkyard and more like a living, breathing museum, where nature and memory intertwine. |

Michele, thank you for clarifying the speed to me. All makes more sense to me now. 1/60 of a sec normally doesn't smooth the water. Did you actually venture across that suspension bridge? |

Mike, I agree with Nigel to some extent. Your eye is drawn immediately to the opening and then up to the tower, which works well compositionally. The right-hand portion of the image doesn't feel necessary and could be cropped without losing impact. Exposure is spot on, and the colors read as true and natural. The lighting really helps tell the story. Honestly like both my version and your original. Well done. |

This image establishes a strong sense of visual calm. The lighting adjustments effectively enhance both the fine detail and overall tonal richness of the scene. The choice of a 1/60-second shutter speed suggests significant water movement, resulting in a smooth, flowing texture in the river. The sky appears well-exposed in the original capture and remains largely unaltered in the processed version, preserving its natural tonal balance. Successfully lifting the suspension bridge from the shadowed areas allows it to emerge as a clear focal point within the composition. |

Nigel, thank you for a little challenge. Here is my rendition, like it or hate it.
Process: Lightened the bridge, lightened the left bank, cloned out houses in upper left, sharpened large building, added sky, turned sky up side down and added to river as reflection, feathered reflection and other minor tweaks. What do you think? |

Nigel, thank you for your comments. An artistic interpretation is exactly this image. It could look this way if the power plants were down on a clear day. Just a point of interest, the road closest to the seawall is called the Malecon and is actually 6 lanes wide and the seawall is in areas a hundred feet wide. Many many buildings are just skeletons. |

Thank you for your comments Michele. The sky is real as is all the buildings and shoreline, just heavy with smog and smoke. On that day, the smoke was so heavy that the primary color was gray. The Cuban's love bright colored paint and I needed to bring some of that out. I have removed the large building on the left and the image seems to loose some impact. I left it so the the image would have three left to right areas, the building, the smoke and the city. I like your expression "an artistic interpretation of reality" because that is exactly what it is. The originals were very close to deletes. |

Dennis, monochrome was definitely the right choice. I have a different interpretation than Mike. To me, the fort reads as cold and uninviting, and that quality is effectively reinforced through the use of black and white. The lighting accentuates the mood. Well done. |

Mike, you are correct. I love the image but hated the blue tint. The sky was so thick with smoke it muted all the colors. Did a lot of work on this image. When these power plants were running the air quality was horrible. The city looks much the way you see it with many buildings 500 plus years old and crumbling. The city is cleaner than you would expect and the people are extremely friendly even though they have little or nothing. |
