1 Jan 25 Comment Sharon, I find this an amazing image. When I first looked at it I instantly got the feeling I was falling. I hope this is what you were trying to achieve. Excellent eye for the unusual! Jan 11th
1 Jan 25 Comment David, this is a gorgeous image of a Raven. The sharpness and detail is excellent. Your crop with the amazing mountain background is outstanding. Very well done! Jan 11th

10 Jan 25 Reply Donna, I did it very carefully some with content aware and others with the cloning tool. Hope you don't mind. Jan 13th
10 Jan 25 Comment Donna. love this image. Your choice of monochrome really makes it. To me it has great visual impact and interest. The only thing that bothers me are the birds that are cut off on the right and left edges. I fixed it. What do you think? Jan 13th

11 Jan 25 Comment Henry, I think this is an outstanding image. Like it that there is an odd number of very sharp rocks and the very slow shutter speed really makes it. Monochrome is certainly a better choice than color in this case. Well done. Jan 13th
11 Jan 25 Comment Peter, hope you don't mind but I deleted the whole left side and made this a portrait. As a portrait I think it is excellent! The left side doesn't seem to add much to the image. The monochrome portrait is a lot of fun and well composed. Jan 13th

13 Jan 25 Comment Fat, I really like this image. I think your placement of the dancers, their shadows and the spot lights in the frame is excellent. Wish the dancers were a little sharper. Very striking image. Jan 18th

14 Jan 25 Comment Tom, you caught this flying fox at the peak of action. It has great visual impact and interest especially with the wings touching the water. I have never seen one but it bears a close resemblance to a bat. Do like Stuarts crop. Very sharp and well done. Jan 18th
14 Jan 25 Comment Syed, this is an absolutely gorgeous sea/island scape. The colors and sharpness are excellent. Might consider removing the cloud in the upper right. Your image has great visual impact and interest. Jan 13th

15 Jan 25 Comment Isaac, wouldn't change a thing. Looked very hard at the chick but I know they are pure white and very hard to expose for. I think you have more than enough detail. Your image has great visual impact and interest. Jan 9th
15 Jan 25 Comment Jerry, everyone has their opinions on what is great about an image. To me the head and eyes are amazing. Hope you don't mind me doing such a radical crop but it is sometimes good to have a different point of view. Excellent very striking image. Jan 9th
15 Jan 25 Comment Sarita, you really caught the courtship at the peak of action. Really like the Sandhill at the bottom right looking up watching the action. I might clone out the cutoff Sandhills in the bottom right corner. Very good non distracting but busy background. Really like it. Jan 9th

18 Jan 25 Comment Suzy, I think you successfully completed your goal of a winter scene. I would love this for a Christmas card. All you would have to do is put a big green wreath on the old barn. I agree with Ian that there is a little to much cloud at the top. Maybe crop 1/3 off. This is a very original approach and quite striking. Jan 17th

20 Jan 25 Comment Angela, outstanding low key image. It has great visual impact and interest. Hope you don't mind but I would crop the right flower. With four flowers your eye doesn't know where to look but with three you would see the three flowers as a whole. Rules can be broken but I was taught to always have an odd number of objects in an image. Either way this is a super image. Jan 17th

21 Jan 25 Reply Don, what an ingenious idea! I tried it and like it. In some competitions I could use it but PSA rule competitions I could not. Very clever idea! Jan 14th
21 Jan 25 Reply Thank you for your comments Ron. I was actually concealed on a small walkway and not sure they even saw me. Love the birding aspect of photography but not those gators. Jan 14th
21 Jan 25 Reply I second the one with the yellow leaves. Jan 13th
21 Jan 25 Reply Thank you Michael, wish I had taken more of the very young chicks. I think they are very unusual. Jan 13th
21 Jan 25 Comment Amazing image of a Loon. Have shot images of loons in Maine many times but normally they are so far away that the images are mediocre. This image ia an excellent composition, and all technical aspects to me are outstanding except I feel that it needs a small bit more space over it head. So I added it. What do you think? Jan 13th
21 Jan 25 Comment Ron, really like this image and the crop is perfect. I also like the way you caught them looking in one direction. I think it is a little soft so I did some sharpening, dodging and burning. What do you think? Jan 13th

21 Jan 25 Reply Thanks Don, will check it out. We just need some warmer weather. Jan 9th
21 Jan 25 Comment Don, we are heading down that way in about two weeks. We are going to Orlando Wetlands then onto Merritt Island National Refuge. This is an excellent image of a Scrub Jay. Your image is tack sharp and colors are right on. Love the turn of the head and the intense alertness of the bird. Jan 9th
21 Jan 25 Reply Jim, thank you for your comments. I would have loved to get some shots of the Gallinule family at a much lower angle but in this area you have to keep a steady eye out for alligators. I like the rule of odd numbers but I like the primary image best also. Jan 9th
21 Jan 25 Reply I like it when images make people think and try different things. For an artsy attempt I like yours better also. Jan 7th
21 Jan 25 Comment Leslie, do you have Pygmy Owls where you live? We have Barred Owls but they are very elusive. I love the owl and the leading line branch. I also like your snowy background but not for this. I feel the owl was taken horizontally and the snow is a downward vertical. I am concerned the viewer would be confused. I put your excellent owl on a different background. What do you think? Jan 7th
21 Jan 25 Comment Jim, I am sitting here in our sunroom watching several cardinals and blue birds out the back window. A pleasure of life. Your image is excellent! It has super visual impact and interest. Your crop and enhancements are perfect. I particularly like the way you captured it in a natural setting and with his beak open is also a plus. Welcome to the group Jim. Jan 7th
21 Jan 25 Comment Excellent image Mike. It makes a huge difference when a bird is doing or eating something. Did agree with Leslie that it is a little bright. I toned it down slightly then reduced the highlights somewhat. What do you think? Jan 6th
21 Jan 25 Reply Mike, some still call them Moorhens. Tried the square crop and like it also. Jan 6th
21 Jan 25 Reply Leslie, thank you for your comment and I will try and get a little more separation. The chicks really are strong looking. My real fear was that this area is loaded with gators. I hope they made it. Jan 5th

22 Jan 25 Comment Al, I think you certainly succeeded in capturing the look of the Wild West with these two wagons. Your lighting accentuates the story and the way everything in the image is light but the wagons are dark really draws your eye to the wagons. Very well done. Jan 18th

23 Jan 25 Comment Richard, excellent very sharp milkweed image. I know it is a still but you can visually see the milkweed seed blowing away. The lighting definitely accentuates the story. Hope you don't mind but I took the liberty of getting rid of the cutoff pod. Better or worse? I like them both. Jan 18th

26 Jan 25 Comment Anges, love the soothing effect of this image. The simplicity and detail is outstanding. Wouldn't change anything. Very well done. Jan 18th
26 Jan 25 Comment Bob, I think this is a terrific sea/landscape. Your processing really made this image come to life and gives it great visual impact and interest. Kirsti's crop is good because the horizon was cutting the image in half. Excellent composition. Jan 18th

27 Jan 25 Comment Lauren, you have a great eye for something different. Unfortunately the light appears to be coming from two opposite directions but I still like it. The town or the moon could be toned down. The only adjustment I think it really needed was a little more space in front of the wagon. Hope you don't mind but I gave it a try. Well done. Jan 20th
27 Jan 25 Comment Jan, very thought out image. I would normally say the top quarter needs some cropping but in this case it all balances. It communicates emotional reaction and is very well done. Jan 20th

28 Jan 25 Reply Scott, thank you for the lighting info. Much appreciated. Great work Scott! Jan 22nd
28 Jan 25 Comment Steve, excellent composition, and all technical aspects to me are outstanding. Only minor object that bothers me is the tower. Great landscape. Jan 20th
28 Jan 25 Comment Scott, this is a beautiful rendition of a mushroom cap. Monochrome makes it pop. Would love to know how you lit it. Only thing I could suggest is that it needs a little more space in front of it. Love the simplicity and detail. Jan 20th
28 Jan 25 Comment Deb, this image is an excellent balanced composition. It is a true example in the strength of simplicity. Very well done. Jan 20th

33 Jan 25 Reply Hi Nanette, I am unfortunately not a member of your group but I just love looking at all the fine images each month. I am the director of the Showcase and administrator of several groups. Great image and great title. Keep up the great work. Jan 21st
33 Jan 25 Comment Nenette, your capture certainly draws you right into the tunnel. The lighting accentuates the story and the exposure of the rocks and graffiti are perfect. I too am curious as to what the tunnel looks like inside and how deep it goes? Very well done. Jan 21st

37 Jan 25 Comment Peter, your Sea Eagle was caught at the peak of action. Colors are perfect, image sharp and there are no distracting elements in the frame. Couldn't be any better. Jan 21st
37 Jan 25 Comment Joseph, your image with the persimmons has good visual impact and interest, and I feel the surrounding bushes compliment the subject. Agree that the persimmon behind her head should be removed. Well thought out.

46 Jan 25 Comment Ted, your Inca Tern is super. It has great color, detail and sharpness. I also like the branch which is a good leading line. I hope you don't mind but I felt the background was off. I cropped it and made it a low key image. What do you think? Jan 26th
46 Jan 25 Comment Xiao, excellent image of such a small bird. I like the leading line of the branch and the small amount of green at the top. It is perfectly cropped and has great color, sharpness and definition. Jan 10th
46 Jan 25 Comment Beautiful Whistling Ducks Maria. The ducks and their perch are in perfect focus and there are no distracting elements in the frame.. I am torn in having the ducks look into the image or out. I think I like your choice of looking out. Very striking. Jan 10th

48 Jan 25 Reply I have recently bought a extremely sharp, fast and longer lens. Wish I had it when I was in Costa Rica. Thank you for your comments Jamie. Jan 13th
48 Jan 25 Reply Richard, I for one really like your mail CUT OUT LION image. To me the eyes are the focal point then left ear that starts your eyes panning though the image toward the gray. Really like it. Jan 11th
48 Jan 25 Reply Bev, I do think your crop looks great! Jan 11th
48 Jan 25 Reply Thank you Don, I appreciate your comments. Jan 7th
48 Jan 25 Comment Jamie, your image has great impact and interest. The diagonal shoreline leading you through the image is super. I agree with Bev that lightening the Jellyfish made it stand out better. I took it a step further and tried to sharpen the jellyfish. Maybe better maybe not? Jan 7th
48 Jan 25 Reply Bev, I agree with you and I wanted to crop it a lot closer. My problem was that I was standing in the water and the waves were way out. My telephoto was an 80 - 400 and I was at my maximum focal length of 400. When I blew the surfer up the sharpness and quality was very poor so I left it alone. Unfortunately, it is what it is. Jan 7th
48 Jan 25 Reply Thanks Bev, I would never want to upset someone that does so much for the Digital Dialog Group. Jan 3rd
48 Jan 25 Comment Bev, please don't get upset with me but I know you are a long time world traveler and I would think you would have tens of thousands of images to pull from. That being said this balloon off the tv is very good. I did fix the top left corner, straighten the building and remove the tie down lines but all in all the clown pops. Jan 3rd
48 Jan 25 Comment Donald, love the simplicity and detail. Also low key was definitely the way to go. This image is very striking. Jan 3rd
48 Jan 25 Comment Richard, I really like it. To me it looks like a water color then you get to the eyes and it brings you back to reality. I am glad you kept the eyes realistic and piercing. You used a lot of interesting techniques and I applaud you. Very well done. Jan 1st
48 Jan 25 Comment Very creative image Stewart. I gather you were using a Lensbaby? Very interesting the way the different degrees of focus or rather out of focus steer you towards the subject which is the girl with the glasses. The palms and walkway steer you towards her from the left. Very well done. Jan 1st

71 Jan 25 Reply Me too! Jan 12th
71 Jan 25 Reply Thank you Michele for your comments and suggestions for creating a more interesting image. Jan 11th
71 Jan 25 Reply Thanks Nigel, I think the mono conversion works also. Years ago I had a dark room in my home and just loved B&W. Jan 9th
71 Jan 25 Comment Nigel, I feel the brownish elevations on three sides lead you right into the lush beautiful valley. I may be wrong but I feel landscapes sometimes do not have a main subject. I struggle with land scapes all the time. Sometimes the whole expanse of a landscape is the subject. Well done. Jan 9th
71 Jan 25 Reply Spring, they also get violent storms in this area and as many times as I have been there my timing has always been off. Would like to catch it from both side with huge waves breaking and lots of spray. Maybe next time. Thank you for your comments. Jan 9th
71 Jan 25 Comment Srijan, Your image has great visual impact and interest. The slow shutter speed makes the falls look very glossy and silky. I also think the greens may be slightly over saturated but I have seen areas around waterfalls where there is so much moisture that they look just this way. Your crop is perfect. Well done. Jan 9th
71 Jan 25 Comment Very sad such a beautiful area is cluttered with plastic. In the Florida Keys we volunteer for 4Oceans and Reef Relief and do many cleanups. It is a never ending thankless job. A group of us will clean several miles of Beach and the following week depending on wind and currents it is all back. Michele, at least some of your image captures the beauty of the area. Jan 8th
71 Jan 25 Comment Spring, I certainly wouldn't change anything. I see Mikes point about the foreground being slightly dark (think it is in some shade) so I put it in PS and lightened it. Didn't like it! The slightly dark foreground aids in drawing you towards Half Dome. I think this is a very strong composition and all technical aspects are outstanding. I am afraid that in years to come as the branches on the left may grow and this outstanding view may be obscured. Jan 5th
71 Jan 25 Comment Mike, you did catch this Stellar Jay in a model like pose but it also has good visual impact and interest. Hope you don't mind I did a little more tweaking. The bright light in the lower left pulls you eye off the bird and I thought it needed more sharpness in the area under the eye. I also wish the tail wasn't cut off. Still this is a very good image and probably hard to catch. Jan 1st
71 Jan 25 Reply Mike, thank you for your comments. This gorgeous light house is normally shot from the other side and in color where you have a half moon sweeping shoreline that takes you right to the lighthouse. From this not so photogenic side I just happen to convert it to Monochrome and I think it is more dramatic and works better. Jan 1st

97 Jan 25 Comment Excellent image Dr. Barsi. Definitely caught it at the peak of action. Also love the monochrome. The Bence Mate's Hides were outstanding and extremely well thought out. I use an ugly canvas blind but no way it works remotely as well as these Hides. Thank you. Jan 14th
97 Jan 25 Comment Julia, this is an excellent image of a cormorant. The body and the wings have excellent sharpness and detail. I am afraid that the head and neck are at the limit of your selective focus and are slightly soft. The background is just beautiful. I think I like Butch's tighter crop the best. Very well done. Jan 11th
97 Jan 25 Comment Peter, you certainly caught these cranes at the peak of action. Normally I would have cropped them vertical but in this case I like your original with more room on each side. You can just feel the speed of them coming together to fight. Super image. Jan 10th
97 Jan 25 Comment Excellent image Roy. Normally having the Great Blue facing away would be a negative but in this case the fish is the primary subject and a good one at that. This image has great visual impact and interest. Nice non distracting background also. I really like it! Jan 10th
