Thank you for your comments Jim. It was shot near dark with a flash with a lot of dark green trees behind it. Will try and lighten the background and see how that works. |

Thanks Michael. Yesterday I had one of the hawks kill a squirrel ten feet from my back window. They are vicious and true predators. |

Ron, Better Beamer Flash Extender is flimsy, cumbersome, big, and lightweight but it really works to lighten birds and wildlife at a distance and to create real catch lights. |

Michael, this is a near perfect image. I REALLY like it. Great color, sharpness and definition. You definitely caught the Penguin at the peak of action as he is still in the air in the middle of his jump. |

Leslie, I have fond sometimes the DDG website does unwanted changes to some of our images. I would love to see the original. None the less it is a great image. I like your crop. I like the layers of water with the march offset in the upper half. I have to ask. What on earth were you doing in in the middle of Africa in Botswana? |

The juvenile male mandarin duck the colors are magnificent and perfect. I think the background could be perfect but needs to be toned way down. Mike, hope you don't mind I took the liberty to adjust. What do you think? |

This is a very nice composition of a cardinal pair. I like the woodsy background and that the birds are both looking to the right with space in front of them. Nice crop. Both birds are a little soft with the female more so than the male. |

Like the image. Like Michael said it does tell a nice feeding story. Could not be used in most PSA ruled competitions because of the hand of man. That being said, the bird is sharp and true to color and the image is cropped nicely into a balanced composition. |

Paul, I know hummingbirds are extremely hard to shoot since they are so fast. I think the image is a little soft and the primary focus is on the green leaf 1/3 of the distance out from the bottom left corner. Perfect timing on the hummingbird bill just touching the flower. |

Gorgeous image Carol. I am torn between the monochrome and the color image. Monochrome is more dramatic though. You have covered the full tonal range from black to white. It is a strong composition and is perfectly cropped. |

Thank you for your comments Michele. Many stories about this beautiful bridge. about 60 years ago they did a rehabilitation on this bridge and replaced many of the remarkable lights and parts of the with cheap different fixtures. About 15 years ago the town fathers wanted to it back to the original 1927 bridge in all aspects so the did a major rehabilitation and this is how it looks now. It truly is one of the main centerpieces of Saint Augustine. |

A funny story Nigel, I was somewhere where I shouldn't have been. So the few images I was able to shoot were in a shoot and run situation. Did manage to get some fair images. |

John, your exposure is absolutely perfect. I think I would crop just a little off the right side to remove the cut off rock formation. This is certainly a well balanced composition and the lighting accentuates the story. Outstanding!

Michele, the monochrome version with the very slow exposure really made it in my opinion. This image has huge visual impact and interest. Just beautiful. How on earth did they ever build a bridge 550 years ago with the engineering to support a large stone building mid span? Amazing. |
