Just an FYI. Banding is a non issue if you are going to enter the image into a PSA Salon. They do not consider a band hand of man. Brown Pelican were one the Endangered Species list til late 2009 when they were removed due to a huge come back. |

Have you ever used a Better Beamer Flash Extender? They are relatively cheap, fold up flat and work excellent if you are using a longer telephoto. |

Michael, the water was loaded with petals of the purple flower but I agree with you, cleaner water might accentuate the duck more. Will try. |

Flash might help. This birds eye is tough. The eye is black, the ring around the eye is black and the bird is black however I have seen images with a good eye. |

Michael, great catch! Perfect exposure. Here in Florida we have many brown pelicans but I have never seen one caught with the wings in this position. Super! Like the rock ledge for a landing point. Only suggestion would be a little water off the top of the frame. |

Ron, I am a Black Skimmer lover also. A few months ago I submitted a skimmer and like yours, you could not see the eye. Everyone ripped me apart. I stuck an eye from another skimmer on it and then others liked it. Hope you don't mind but the other cut off birds were distracting so I remove them. What do you think. |

Gabriele, a quick story. I entered a native bird to Florida a skimmer in the DDG a while ago and the bird was sharp as a tack but the lighting conditions that I shot the image in, the black eye on a black bird it absolutely disappeared. Everyone ripped it a part. So I know its a no no but I got and eye off another bird and put it on this Skimmer and everyone said that it was much better. Go figure? |

Gabriele, I too have never seen or heard of this magnificent gull. Love the in flight catch with the beautiful features pattern. Agree with Leslie that I would like to see the eye a little better. Well done. |

Leslie, thank you for the Steller's Jay explanation. Beautiful bird! Our Jays on the east coast look completely different but are also very aggressive birds. |

Leslie, gorgeous Stellar Jay. I was in a bird photography class a few years ago and the instructor said you should always try and get the head of the bird to be slightly turned towards you and this is a perfect example. Tack sharp Jay and I love the leading line of the branch. Perfect positioning in the frame and nice soft background. Wouldn't change a thing. |

Mike, this is a superb image. The Mallard is tack sharp and has good separation from a beautiful but non distracting background. The mallard looks as though he is coming in for a landing and I like his position in the frame. Well done. |

Paul, I like the whole composition. The reeds in the front left tend to give it depth and as long as you have and odd number of geese all is good. Love the water patterns, texture and color. Never heard of a Hoya (Moose) Warm Circular Polarizer but will check it out. Could see many uses for it. Well done Paul. |

Bev, that's why the Digital Dialog Group is so good. It has happened to me over and over that I don't see a distraction or a way to make an image better but someone else does. |

Bev, very nice catch. Fish at the perfect angle entering the frame. Very good tonality. Excellent composition but I did feel the orange fish in the top right distracted from the main fish image. I cloned it out. What do you think? |

Jim, tack sharp image. Do agree with Lloyd that it needs a little space on the left behind the bird. Perfect sky to make the bird pop. I was in a bird photography class a few years ago and the instructor said you should always try and get the head of the bird to be slightly turned towards you but you certainly can't control everything. Very nice. |

Donald, very interesting and creative image. Looks as though you were looking through a black hole in space. The tree in the bottom left really gives it depth. Nicely done. |

Hi Paul, The image actually had about seven people in it and I removed all but one. Was going to remove all but my wife said it looked fake or a diorama so I left one person for realism. As always, thanks for your comments Paul. |

Michele, I'm afraid I prefer your original image. It has a Clasic flair to it. The one just posted makes you wonder if the boy getting off the camel and what is the woman doing. |

Ted, like the image a lot. Can see you worked hard to get a very pleasing composition. The only thing that bothers me is the cloud above the tree. Used content aware to get rid of it. What do you think? |

John, have been to that spot a hundred times over the years, down those many steep steps and climbed all over those treacherous rocks many times. Hove gotten great sunsets with even a lobster boat in the sea and many times a waste of time. Still one of my favorite lighthouses. Not fond of the sky and I would remove the distracting post on the right but still has very good visual impact and is perfectly cropped. |

Michele, this is a gorgeous silhouette and with the sun slightly coming through her shawl adds to the dynamic beauty. Never experimented with Fluorescent WB but will definitely remember it. Perfect crop. This should be hanging in your office or home. Super! |

Theresa, this is a beautiful sea/landscape and with your minor adjustments it almost looks like a pastel. I consider myself a terrible scape photographer and I think it is because I am programed to look for a center of interest and since being in this group and taking courses that in not a criteria for scape photography because the whole image is the center of interest. Excellent image. |

Julia, gorgeous image of an Eastern Bluebird. Do agree with Roy that it needs a little more space in front of the bird and above. A quick story. We have gone through a fortune of meal worms and I have built eight bluebird birdhouses. We were were vey successful having several families and many young. Then came a mockingbird (very aggressive). Now we have none! |

Jim, your mallard is outstanding and the background makes it pop. I think Roy was going in the right direction but the end of the branch looked like gray clay. I cloned some bark and I feel now your eyes go directly to the mallard. What do you think? |
