What the problem is that Michael submitted his image in Tiff format and I didn't think about it. Macs read anything but PCs do not. The system won't let me change it for some reason. Here is Michaels original image in Jpgv so hopefully everyone can see it. |

Hi Leslie, my ears are burning already!! (Just kidding). I know you prefer high key and I prefer low key and I had some time to play in Photoshop. It really does make the three vultures pop and seems to bring out more detail. What do you think? |

Going through all the images again and I just love this Hummingbird. the only thing I might change is the dark area in the upper left. You look at the Hummer then your eyes wander to that dark area. I used content aware to change it. Better?? |

Mike, Ron & Michael, remember this is an artistic rendition of one amazingly ugly bird! Probably is too yellow but in ps I wanted it warm and the white wing tips are really black and black on black wouldn't get it. Seriously, thank you all for the varied comments. |

Beautiful Hummer Michael. The colors are magnificant! Never seen one with such a long beak. Great detail even on those tiny feet. I can see it fine Leslie. Super catch! |

Leslie, I do like vultures. Not the prettiest bird in the world but certainly unique as the vacuum cleaner of nature. Wood storks are another ugly bird but both are beautiful in their own way. Actually have some head shots of vultures that are fairly good. |

Leslie, you are absolutely correct. Used a flash and a beamer near dusk to get the low key background and many filters and much photoshop work to get the purely artistic result. |

Leslie, very nice high key image. I thought the vultures were a little hot so I darkened them but then lost some of the detail in their faces that is so important. Great faces!! Your layout is perfectly cropped and the three vultures have great visual impact and interest. Just had dinner so I am glad you didn't include the hippo's butt shot! |

Marilyn, love the almost square crop and the placement of the owl coming from the lower left is just super. Just personal but I thought it needed a bit more detail. I put it in Aurora HDR and liked this one best. What do you think? |

Jack, absolutely gorgeous Rufous Hummingbird. Sharp, sharp, sharp! Love the angle of the body that you captured. Colors are magnificent! The only thing slightly distracting is the left branch. Removed it. What do you think? |

Hi Marty, thank you for your suggestion. I have tried this image many different ways with different backgrounds. I tend to go for low key (Don't like high key) and this image has done very well in various competitions but could be presented many different ways. Thanks again. |

Paul, I don't consider myself a good portrait photographer but if I am somewhere that has studio lighting and a good backdrop then I might get lucky and get a fair image. Thank you for your comment. |

Lloyd, super landscape image. The varied horizontal layers lead you right up to the stand of vertical tread and to the gorge. The only thing I would delete it that dark spot in the upper middle. Other than that I wouldn't change a thing. Very nice. |

Don, we were sick when we heard NECCC was ending. It was a great conference. When we lived in NJ it was an easy run to Amherst but being in FL it was tougher but it did get us up to New England and out of the FL heat for several weeks. Thank you for your comments. |

Paul, excellent solar eclipse image. Most solar eclipse images are very boring but yours with three distance bands I really like. The trees, then the clouds draw the eye right to the distant eclipse. Well done. |

Ted, this is a gorgeous landscape. Agree with Theresa that there is a white object should be cloned out. Most of the time I like clouds in the sky but in this case a plain blue sky is perfect because it doesn't interfere with that excellent mountain reflection. I really like the sharpness of the foreground and that stand of trees. To me the softness of the mountains give it depth. Very nice job Ted. |

Theresa, first thing that strikes me as super is the fall red-orange colors at the top of the image and the second is the full reflection of the big tree in the pond. I Like the dark lead in of the bottom section and the curving rocky shoreline. Really communicates a message of fall. Great scape! |

Hi Teresa, Have to agree that it is a little dark. Was trying to portray the lush green flora. Made it somewhat lighter and like that also. I guess it just personal taste. Thank you for your comments. |

Hans, this is a gorgeous image of a cormorant in action. The water splash and the sharpness of the bird makes it! The pond going out of focus towards the back really forces your eye to the bird. I do wish the tail of the cormorant was not cut off and was just inside the frame. Beautiful! |
