71 Jul 25 Comment Well balanced and captured Mike. Good subject matter and convenient that they turned up in a threesome! Jul 22nd
71 Jul 25 Comment Good composition Dennis. I prefer the Black and white version. You mention that the colour is a bit distracting and I agree, especially with the marina area being so busy. Jul 22nd
71 Jul 25 Comment Thanks for all your comments. The red boat was the focal point although the general scene itself was really a record shot of a misty morning when I went up on deck. The meandering of the river as Mike mentioned, was also a factor in the composition, it just seemed to fit. It was really the mist that attracted me though, so whilst I appreciate the edits and suggestions, if I de-haze the image, the thing that first interested me is gone. I could always emphasise the mist a bit more to leave the viewer in no doubt that that was a big factor. However, I am becoming more conscious that I prefer natural scenes rather than tweaking too much for my "everyday" shots. This is why these forums are a good place for discussion. Jul 22nd
71 Jul 25 Comment I think you're right Tom - it's the reason I got up in the first place, because of the haze. I think the edit you did brings out the clarity and colour as you say. I have other images showing more haze and they don't look sharp either. If I had taken my 16-55 they would have benefitted from the better lens quality but holidays and heavy lenses don't go together for me any more. Thanks for your edit. Jul 4th
71 Jul 25 Comment I agree with Michele - well captured. A reminder to us that when these events come around you have to make the effort to go out and capture them. Jul 4th
71 Jul 25 Comment It's not as sharp as I would have liked - taken with my X-H2 and 16-80 lens which isn't the sharpest tool in the drawer. The ship was moving and was taken at 1/160 sec so don't know the reason apart from operator error Michele! I take your point about warming up a bit - thanks, it was a great trip. Jul 4th
71 Jul 25 Comment A good capture Tom and looks like an interesting house. The only thing I'd mention is that I personally would have cropped to the base of the walkway but as I say, personal choice. I would imagine that it would look lovely with sunlight on it. Jul 3rd
71 Jul 25 Comment I like the composition of this one Michele. The water has retained a small amount of detail, just right to give the effect. I think that there is a swift change from light to dark in your edit and there are some pleasant middle grey tones in the original file that could be put to good use. A good idea to use mono for this as well, too much green can be quite overbearing. Jul 3rd
71 Jul 25 Comment I like the ratio between sea and sky here and also the tones and reflection in the water. The difference in size between the cruise ship and smaller boat is not really apparent owing to the difference in distance between them. Nicely captured. Jul 3rd
