Hello Julie, I just popped across from Group 71 and saw this really striking image. Well captured. There's a real need for symmetry in architectural stuff and I used the guided corrections in Photoshop to straighten the walls and floor a little more precisely as it looks as though it's leaning to the right. I hope it's OK for you. |

Interesting sky and I'm sure that in good light (all my comments seem to be about light this month!) this is a stunning location. I think that at least 1/3 on the left is not necessary - you have a perfect line where the coast line meets the water to crop from and it still retains a good amount of sea and sky to make it work. Your thought might have been that the main focus was on the really interesting sky and decided to use that rather than crop it out. It's about your intention this one, sky or composition. Still a good image John. |

I think a square crop would work better here on what I agree is an interesting catch. I'd like to see the shoes as well but it conveys a sense of him climbing up higher to get his viewpoint. Would have been nice to have everything sharp for the story but maybe you didn't have the light. Well spotted image anyway Mike. |

Lovely composition and crop as mentioned. It's a shame you didn't get better light to work with in such a photogenic spot but you've done well with it Michele |

Sorry I haven't posted myself this month Tom - you're aware of the issue.
I like this - a colourful row of waterfront houses and a dramatic sky. I wondered why there wasn't more of the dramatic sky in the foreground - maybe the direction of light. Taking up on what Mike said about the crop, I can see the reason for so much foreground, you possibly didn't want to cut the reflections off the buildings - in that case, why not accentuate them a bit more? A Caribbean cruise sounds just right. |
