This wouldn't have been the same with any movement on the water so worth the wait. Great colours as well. |

We seem to be blessed with a set of great images this month Mike - this one's no exception. Very simple in theory these kind of shots but more difficult to PP and present, well done. Looking forward to your May shot with interest! |

Can't really add anything to what the other folks have said Ted - very pleasant landscape. The only comment I'd make doesn't actually apply to this image. Sometimes when we see landscapes, there's always a temptation to think "let's add a vignette to hold it together". This hasn't got one and the expanse of the scape would be lost if there were.
Well taken. |

I think the lighting coming through the canopy onto the rocks and foliage help to make this a delightful image and the flow of the water in the top half is just right. I'm not a great fan of really milky water but the important thing is that you like it. I would have preferred to have seen a little more detail in there and if you have a number of exposure variations to play with I wonder whether it would look much different or you would lose the effect you were looking for. |

I like the way you've made the reflection more of the subject than the tree, but balanced that by accentuating the tree colours - very nice. Maybe just add a touch more vibrance to the tree in the reflection, it is just a bit pale compared to the main tree. Well composed too. |

Looks like a great place for a day out Tom. I also think it's a little on the dark side but not in an underexposed way, just perhaps selectively lift the midtones to darks with a curves layer. I personally would lose the bottom inch of the image up to the rock - it's not really adding anything and would perhaps give a better balance. I also like the detail in the water - I think too many images nowadays are cursed with milky water disease. |

Thanks Michele, I agree "documentary" rather than "record" is a better word. The point of focus is neither the sky nor the landscape for me. It is a documented image of St Johns, the city, the harbour, the waterway leading to the harbour and the vantage point from the top of Signal Hill. So, in a sense, some of the sky could go, but, like you - I like the sky as well. Thanks for your comments. |
