Hello Henry, just dropping in from Group 71, I hope you don't mind. I like this image, I have some similar ones from Norway. I thought the colours were a bit washed out so set the black and white points using Threshold and levels and then in Camera Raw I warmed the image up slightly and cropped the spare arm from the right hand side - it doesn't add value to the capture. Also added a fair bit of dehaze to bring some middle to foreground detail back. Increased the shadows and dropped the highlights and sharpened. |

Some spare time to have a play. I just cropped in around the image to make the lighthouse a bit more prominent then a couple of curves layers, one to darken down the water and to lighten the reeds. |

More impact with the simplification and using the bounding lines of the window is the right thing to do. Lovely image in the first place John. |

I see what you mean Mike, I just like the guys on the bottom right in the picture, but I'll see what it looks like thanks. |

Thanks also Theresa. I think both suggestions work well. |

Thanks Tom - the white sign is now glaringly obvious and will be removed - cheers! |

A good record shot of the scene you were presented with. Sunset would have been good - but haven't we all been there with good intentions only to have the wrong conditions on the day. I'm torn about the foreground in this one Tom. On one hand the road leading to the lighthouse is good to get you there but as the lighthouse is relatively small, the foreground could be considered too much. |

Because of the way the animals are positioned and the fact that the tail is missing from your edit I would have been tempted to crop it landscape and that would let you crop the top (as Tom has done) and then to include the whole of the foreground animals. The other possibility would be to just make it a double head shot. That would show intent and purpose and it wouldn't matter about tail ends and stuff. Well captured though Mike.
I did a square crop of the heads, set the black and white points using threshold and levels and a small radial filter on the faces. |

Those are well blended together Theresa - I like the varying levels of brightness you've assigned to each bit.
Good work. |
