Hello Alison
I had deleted the first version I did but here's something fairly similar.

Hi Julie, dropping in from Group 71. I like this shot, good action, wing position and eye contact. It needs a light tweak in terms of levels. If you look at your histogram there's a good amount of space to the right with little information in it. I increased the exposure by 0.25 and the whites by a small amount and it looked a lot better. Also, increased the clarity. Then, as I agree to some extent with the cropping, I changed the format to 10 x 8 and took a little off the right hand side and more off the left and it looked great. Added a small high pass sharpen as well. |

Thanks John,
I agree that the texture in the buildings is strong and was the look I was going for, for a particular image theme (yes - texture). My normal colour version of this is the one I prefer. Appreciate your comments. |

Totally missed the yellow excavator and now I can't unsee it! I'll have a play with the suggestions, thanks Theresa. |

Great image this one. I think there's only one thing I'd think about and it might not work very well - and that's the recession to the mountains. The peaks and troughs of the mountains might be showed off a bit more if you could tweak a bit more contrast into them. I like the clouds as they are because if you darken them down they start to blend in with the mountains. Nice conversion. |

I wonder if you have shots taken a minute or two earlier so that the mountains and ferry were more prominent in the frame? You would still have the lovely turquoise wash from the propellors but would be able to see the mountains more clearly. Nicely positioned ship and well taken from a moving ship! |

The Topaz treatment of the image works well but I find the yellow sign on the intrusive side and it would have been better trying to take from an angle that didn't include it.The coldness and snow reflects the conditions very well. |
