Hi Michael, thanks for your comments. Yes this is New Zealand and Google Maps will show you where (it's literally at the end of the road as you will see). Hope your visit here goes well. Best wishes, Mark |

Careless on my part. It's usually an artefact of sharpening so in PS just use a mask to block the sharpening where a halo occurs. Can also arise in over aggressive black and white conversions in Nik. You can see an example in Richard's edit where there are new halos in the cave in the right hand stack. |

There are truckloads on that kind of thing. If you do a search you will find more |

EEEK that halo is very embarrassing! Thanks for pointing it out. A tighter crop is very legitimate but I really wanted to emphasize how they stand alone. |

Thanks Jim. As this was side lit I think a CPL would have been a good idea (tbh I am not sure if I did use one or not). I like a minimalist look hence my instinct to present a wide shot. It adds to the sense of isolation too. |

Thanks Sophia. I like zooming in too but here I really wanted to emphasize the isolation of this place and how the stacks stand against a very long beach |

Hi Richard, absolutely in love with the beautiful skin tones you have drawn out of the original image. Bronze and glowing! Quite captivating! I like Oliver's/Jim's interpretation with the removal of the dark background. |

HI Sophia. Looking forward to seeing more of your trip. The image is distinctly soft and efforts to sharpen it have lead to obvious artefacts. This maybe because the original image you shared is fairly low resolution so it gives Topaz less to play with. I would definitely endorse Topaz Denoise for bird photography which does a great job on high ISO noise with a nice amount of sharpening. Its normally all I use. So far as I know it works with lightroom and anyway you can use it on the original raw file as a step one, then into lightroom. They do a Black Friday sale and if you check out discount coupons you should be able to get a double discount. Like the crop of both wings to balance up the image. |

Hi Oliver. Love the image and I am a bit late with comments. I would endorse the crop that leaves space around the left hand car but other than that think you treatment is spot on. Like the extra dust you cloned in because that right hand area is definitely where my eye goes in the original. |

Hi Jim, what a striking model. She must have been a joy to work with. I did find the pose quite distracting. Her feet a bowed out. I would go for a crop down to about waist level even though it would mean loosing the nice leading lines created by the curved steps. I know models love their accessories and would hate you to chop them off but she could have a full length version. |

Great capture David. I like her position and the diagonals created by her limbs and hair. Its so well balanced. Your pp has improved it massively. Agree with other comments about fairly burnt out skin in places and that would be worth working on for a non pj competition. |

Love the image Barbara and your pp has really given it a terrific lift. Warmer tone in the background was a great move and bringing out the colors in his clothes and face is perfect. |

Thanks for your comments. You are welcome to print the image if you like it (I could send you a full res version). Here is a video https://youtu.be/t4w0ENeYVK8 It discusses exposure times and timing when to shoot. My shot was 0.8 secs starting as the wave began to run back into the sea |
