Hi Lance. Thanks for you comments. My foreground elements are too close for hyperfocal length focus. This was shot at 94 mm f11. Ferns on the LHS. I am trying to be a little untraditional because I want to simulate being there and give the viewer the option of enjoying any part of the scene. I enjoy shooting film though but getting what I want in this situation would be challenging as I have a target shutter to get the water turbulence looking nice (0.5 sec) and this needed a raised ISO (320). |

Hi Pete I think this is a dramatic interpretaion. Creates a moody and out of world feel. Not a place to be trapped in! |

Thanks Jim, I think that is better! You are welcome to visit anytime. This is a great location and the ideal time would be February when the water level is low. But you need to be resilient and fit as the access in and out is difficult, especially with a backpack. |

I think the rocks are the hero of this image with their beautiful textures. But I think there is a bit much texture: it has that crunchy feel...maybe too much clarity or sharpening. I prefer the original which is a great capture. Interesting use of f22 which presumably was intended to get a slower shutter speed to blur the water a little. All the "books" say never go there but I have been trying it for depth of field when focus stacking is too complicated. I don't see loss of detail when I do and of course Topaz can always help recover soft images. |

Hi Sophia. I love the image and the suggestions by Pete and Jim. I think I prefer Pete's treatment of the sky which emphasizes the direction of the light from the left hand side. The center crop is a good idea as the symmetry of the boat and the flock of birds is obvious. |

Hi Pete I agree this is a fascinating vantage point which would lend itself to all sorts of possibilities (such as a working day image of more formally dressed people with a more dystopian tone to it). I like your processing which is fairly radical but I think it works. Bringing up the shadows has brought up numerous reflected lines in the glass sides which were a bit distracting. |

Congratulations on theses captures. Must require well timed panning to get these shots at close range. I do prefer the first original as it demonstrates the precision of the formation (eg the topmost jets are perfectly aligned). |

Hi David Love the dymanics of this especially the opposed direction of the front wheels suggesting a tightly contested race. Like Jim's modification with the smudge tool too. Warming the image was a good move. |

I love the way you have managed the lighting to bring out beautiful shadows and the veining in the petals. It makes a wonderful composition. |
