Hi Candia, I was referring to Richard's comments in his statement about the image. |

Yes I think ideally the cattle would be further back and the sheep could be as is. But I agree there is another image cropped in as well as down, for example, attached. Then it is just about the stock |

Dem bones look quite fresh. Made me start thinking what their back story was. What this animal was and how it died. And who feasted on the remains? Visually the right hand side looks more decayed (but maybe only because there is more cartilage remaining) so there is a progression that suggests the passage of time. Ashes to ashes. You said you arranged them and decided to have a kink on the golden ratio and give us a lot of negative space in the lower half. I wondered how that amplified the story. Thanks for the brain teaser!! |

You have to smile at this. Thanks for sharing! Impressed by the 3D quality of the Giraffe skin landscape. I think this kind of element really makes an image like this. |

Wow this is a great study in shape and structure. I love all the diagonal boxes created between the elements. I wondered if you could achieve an interesting Escher like effect by cropping out the top railing and relying on the shadow to tell its story. It also intensifies the sense of confusion you get. In these parts having someone edit your image would earn a stern rebuke but clearly this is intended in this forum so feeling really bad about it, I had a go! |

I prefer the color version because it offers more contrast than the black and white. But I agree that a vintage treatment of old technology makes sense and wonder if you could create a higher contrast black and white image. Maybe playing with the color filters in Nik and increasing the contrast in the steam to help it stand out against the sky. |

This really captures the harshness of life in the African savanna. Regards your comment about the background and foreground grasses, I wonder if removing any sharpening there, or adding a touch of blur might keep us focussed on the lions. |

Thanks for the comment. I really wanted conventional landscapes with an obvious farming flavor. But maybe your point is about foregrounds fighting with backgrounds. |
