Yes, photographers need time and cars…which I don't have either now so I can understand the limitations and am worrying about what to share for next month….
I also appreciate your courage of using IR filter to take monochromatic pictures which actually are taken very well. I tried but gave up very quickly for not willing/dare to loose colors. |

Thank you for your comments and such a warm encouragement. The work is really hard but enjoyable, you are very precise on that.
I shall try your suggestions next time with the polarizer and PS. That's a huge challenge to tame the sun with a camera. Even though with the correct location and occasion, it most likely will blow up the picture leaving no details and no chance to fix it. Your idea of taking control is great. |

Thank you for your comments and suggestion. I should try to capture the ray instead of leaving a large blank area in the picture. That's a good idea. |

Thank you for your comments and detailed explanation. I'm doing PhD in Computer Science. I shall try more sophisticated techniques instead of shooting at the sun directly. Now I'm more calmed down than the time I just arrived, and I'm seeing this sun every morning, the sun in the picture seems not as expressive as it seemed to me at the first time. But I shall never forget the feeling when I first saw it on campus. |

Thank you for your comments. Yes. When the sun is in the picture it really brings in a large annoying hot spot. |

I like this clean and beautiful picture. And the tree ingeniously connected the sky and the ground. The brook makes the image alive. And the color looks like has been well tuned.
Very nice. |

Lovely flowers, majestic snow mountains, haze and cloud on the above and steep slopes on both sides, well framed the POI -- the wandering road covered by ice and snow but full of footprints and tracks.
The footprints on the frozen road bring imaginations, and the contrast between the flowers and the snow mountain enlarged their space.
Although I'm not sure which direction to go, I like the complexed sense. Nice picture. |

I recall that you once posted a similar picture. What I mean similar is this kind of IR filter and similar scenes. I know they are similar scenes also because you explained by yourself.
I didn't comment at the first time because it really took me some time to think 1) why you are posting similar scenes, 2) what you wanted to express by the IR filter, which is monochromatic but not a simple black and white style.
I guess, the two questions are both due to the IR filter concealed way much details of color. So even though in reality they might be quite different because at least they are in different seasons, but after filtering there only left a kind of sense, like in a dream with real world, or in a world with real dreams, leaving a large imagination space to the reader.
The grasses, the trees, the house, the car, and even the cloud on sky, are so real but with unreal white and black. Also, you might wanted to express peaceful feeling inside, so you chose this monochromatic one instead of those colorful filters. Moreover, the place itself might be very peaceful. At least it looks like that in the picture.
In short, a world with real dreams is what I read from your picture. And it's the first time I got this kind of feeling and understanding. Thank you for your sharing. Great work!

Thank you for your advices. I know your suggestions are very good. I like those moments too that the sun light poured through the crevices between woods at the time of dawn or dusk. But it's a different emotion which is kinda like tranquility. What I tried to express with such a huge sky and a shining sun, was a kind of feeling mixing energetic, surge, steady, and peaceful, or a kind of temperate fury. And this kind of stunning energy was steadily sweeping out the darkness and clouds in the sky and was taking the world back, like a restrained but powerful release after a long time of repression......I'm not sure if you'd like to appreciate that kind of emotion......
As for your second advice, I tried. Before taking this picture I took a whole week to try different parameters and to wait for a wonderful sunrise. But the camera didn't get a good output (the first and second picture), while my cell phone got a nice one but not precise (the last picture). And all of them are not dramatic enough to express that kind of emotion mentioned above.
Maybe using the sun as a POI was actually a bad idea.
Anyway, thank you for your comments and thoughtful advices. |

I love this picture!
The water, remote mountains and sky merged in one color which is amazing! For most of the time it's very easy to get a picture separated by horizon when shooting water together with sky.
And the glorious sun light was blurred by the cloud and mirrored in the water, making the picture looks like a dreamworld.
So the season and time was just at the right point and it should be very hard to wait for.
What's more, there is one and the only one boat in the water. This gives me the imagination that if anyone could row the boat into the sky, or if it is the boat to pick up people to "the other bank" which in Buddhism implying the ultimate wisdom.
It would be perfect if there wasn't the black line in the center across the picture. Maybe it is the distance between an ideal dream and the reality.
Great picture!

WOW! What an amazing picture of waterfall!
First, from remote the waterfall looks like a beautiful plant grow from the ground, in shape it pretty like Ganoderma which is one of the most precious medicinal herbs. In China, people usually use it in artistic works as a symbol of good luck and happiness.
Second, the color and texture of the river in the valley make it look like a jade sculpture. Moreover, if it was jade it must be in very good quality. And jade is also a symbol of goodness in China with over 9 thousands years of tradition.
So, I'm totally hooked on the waterfall, and wishing if the heading part of picture could be cropped out (as the attached picture).
Anyway, it's just my personal taste and actually I'm not satisfied with my version which is too full. I shall say the river and waterfall leads my attention very well, and seamlessly leading to the farm far away. It's a nearly perfect position to take the picture. Great job! |
