Thank you! I have never consider it. I just started local competitions about 2 1/2 years. Have competed at state level but that's about it.

Don't be hard on yourself because you did NOT destroy the photo. You captured some beautiful light on those grass heads. Some people really like flares, some people don't. Any time you tackle a photo, you should make it something you like! I love trying different techniques to try to grow my skills. Might not be successful every time but I think I learn best by trying until I get something I do like. Most important thing is to have fun with doing, don't stress! |

Brave girl!! Nice action shot, she must have been between the bands of the storm since I see blue water, lol! I went to the beach during one of the many hurricanes that Florida has seen, it was dark and the waters had an orangish cast from churning up coquina and sand. Love storms at the beach as long as they aren't too harsh. |

I like both versions and can see Stuart's point about the stem on the BW. The only thing that really bothers me is most of the stem is very soft and then the eye sees this beautifully detailed flower. It doesn't quite balance for me. I do appreciate the flower has aged a bit but still as it fades, beauty resides. |

Well, it's three for the original! I do like your crop on the "finished" piece but if you want to remove the blown out sun, I might suggest using a faint color (use you color picker to match). Set the brush to a very low opacity and larger than the are you want to cover. Apply once , make the brush smaller, hit the area again, keep repeating until you get the coverage you want. I would do this on its own layer just in case, you want to blend further. The backlighting makes for very pretty lighting on the subject. |

Your post production work is wonderful. Everything you did improved the photo. It is very picturesque and I think lovely! |

I like your composition but overall the photo seems to be "crunchy" in the the textural details are all extremely sharp. I think if you soften the foreground and certain bits in the water, you would have a fabulous photo! |

I like what you have done to achieve this photo. The new background does bring the flowers forward and I really love the bees. There is a bit of ghosting but I don't think it distracts. Will say Allen's idea of darkening the background could really pop the sunflowers. Glad you're having fun!! |

It is an entirely different image but I looked back and I have submitted a whole lot of images from Washington Oaks. You have a good memory. I know I'm drawn to those oaks, they are such beautiful trees. This one was taken with a much wider lens (same camera) and was taken earlier this year. I probably will capture it again (hopefully). |

I did try straighten up the trees and you don't want to see it, lol!! There is a bit of a hill on which the house sits but the trees aren't too far from the ocean and have seen many a storm. They actually "bend" towards the river. If I cropped out the sky, I would lose a piece of the house. May be a different angle would have been a better choice. Will hopefully get back and try a different spot. |

I really expect to see Clark Kent (aka SuperMan) inside that phone booth. Such a charming scene! Agree with Stuart in that you did a good job painting the booth red. Very fun photo! |

I like the repetition that is here. Great job in processing this photo, you did well! I don't know if this supported vehicular traffic but I would not want to drive on it. Open grate bridges create a noise (at least I hear one) that just unsettles me. Good job! |

Sorry to hear about the damage. Know derecho can be as devastating as a hurricane. t took me a bit to understand what I was seeing but I do like the path to the beautiful trees. The wooden fence(?) in the foreground doesn't really work for me and I wish you had moved closer to the trees for this shot. The curvature almost looks like you were going for one of those "tiny planet" type photos but stopped. When I first saw this I thought perhaps you used a drone. I hope you replant your trees. |

Echoing Stuart: WOW! I like both the cropped and uncrossed view. There is a wonderful dynamic to this, reality in terms of the ground with tree and fence and the beautifully artistic sky that could be a painting. I can almost breathe in the storm. Fabulous work! |

I like the original quite a bit and I love the foreground of your processed photo. I am not a fan of the cyan-ish cast on the building and I think it (the cyan) overwhelms your sky. I think it dulls down the entire photo. I think I would brighten the sky a bit and get a balance between sky and foreground. Did you play with a B&W option? I think there is so much potential in this photo. I love the "Christmas tree" next to the building. |

How lovely!! I really love what you have achieved. I have done very well with my IR photos in B&W competitions and/or juried shows. I find that most of my "creative" photos are not as well received. I have talked to several judges who think creative should be nothing more than adding a stroke. A few will accept the use of textures and those are usually from the professors from our local college that teach graphic arts and digital media. If you enter this in a mix media type exhibit, I think it would do well. If you are going for a straight up photography show, it would depend on who is doing the judging. I think it's a great piece! |
