Hi Chuck. I love the idea you are communicating...dark and almost gothic...other worldly. I would lessen the filtering(?) just a step. Very creative. Nice color image. |

Hi Cindy. You have captured a lot of detail, texture, depth, and feelings of cool, brisk, dryness. There seems to be movement in the sky and stillness in the scene creating a dynamic of uncertainty or impending something like doom/winter(?). Interesting and nicely done. |

Hi Mary Ann. I like your photo both in color and black and white. I like the textural variation and the subtle range of hues. I am happy with your original cropping. In the color the horse's nose blends into the fencing behind it. You made it stand out a lot more in your monochrome version. Nice shot. I love the horse to the left peaking his head out. |

Hi Lorna. Very nice subject matter and I love the clarity and focus of the young girl. She is obviously happy and in a great moment which can be difficult to capture. My only suggestion is to crop down a bit. It's nice to see the facial expression of the father and the adoration in his eyes. Because he is less important and background to the child the whole head does not have to be in view. It will shift the focus downwardly and towards the child. I'd crop it down to the top of his right ear. |

Hi Paul. Great photo. I really like your original color photo for a few reasons. First the variation in stone color is so earthy, beautiful and complementary to the total image. Second the harmony of the composition in it's totality is dynamic but serene. The lack of cropping, the colors, and the ascending/descending treeline all bring focus to the faces. I think your initial instincts were right on when you took the picture which means you have a really good eye. Not everyone has that. And in monochrome I do like the darkened background. |
