5 Apr 22 Comment I'm not quite sure what to make of this. I think you've made a valiant effort in PS but as you say you've chopped the hand off (and left in a slice of the blue coat sleeve) but also you loose the effect of the twig antlers in the trees and I think Bev's effort above shows how easy it is not to realise that they weren't part of the background. However, they were slightly clipped in the original and I think you would need to do a canvas expand with content aware to bring them back and give them some space. I think I'd go back to the drawing board on it and find a less busy background to put him on. Apr 3rd
5 Apr 22 Comment I love the expression on the bird's face and Oliver appears to have solved the bee. A lovely shot that is very hard to fault. Apr 3rd
5 Apr 22 Comment I love this, it is exactly the sort of images that appeals to me most and your processing is spot on. The only change I would have made would be to lift the bottom of the frame above the dark triangular crevice in the middle. This would allow the green to bleed out of the edge which I think would work better and that one triangle of darkness feels unsatisfactory - unlike the other shadowy areas which work well. Apr 3rd
5 Apr 22 Comment I disagree with Richard. I think the eye treatment leaves the poor guy looking a little cross-eyed. However, I may not have noticed that it was changed if you hadn't said but - as a matter of taste rather than principle - I always much prefer portraits, particularly candid portraits, where the subject is looking away from the camera. I therefore would have left the eyes alone. I think your crop is very good and I like the colour enrichment of the saffron robe. Apr 3rd
5 Apr 22 Comment A very good action shot. I don't think BW would have worked particularly. I'm sure the guy scoring the try would be very chuffed to have this one on his wall. Apr 3rd
5 Apr 22 Comment This did make me smile and I thought you were inventive with your painterly approach which elevates the image from a snap to a portrait. Apr 3rd
